  1. 752 converted 4/82 and 753 converted by 5/84 and in early 2000 752 was sent to Glasgow works as one of the 80 class fleet sent for life extension work due to severe corrosion issues.
  2. When is the model railway day and what is happening with the Donegal stuff locked up in Derry?
  3. Went past York Road yesterday and 90 was at the top of the reformed Sandite set Where did 749 go?
  4. The new Enterprise livery has been called the raspberry ripple livery by some members of NIR staff!
  5. The 4 car Sandite set is back in its usual place after some TLC last week in York Road works to help it through its last Sandite season. There are 2 Power cars spare in York Road and Ballymena and a Driving Trailer still around.
  6. Museum at Foyle Road in Derry has been left unmanned and abandoned since the end of March 2015 and is surrounded by an air of untidiness and a group of anti-social young people and other dubious groups when I was there a few weeks ago. Also visited the railway at the Giants Causeway at the end of July and was not impressed and the horrible replica tram was in operation that day. The 2 steam engines were in storage and had not been used for a while was the response to a few basic questions from myself.
  7. Sorry have checked that date and according to Locos of GSR 184 retained double doors until 1948 and it was the last J15 to retain them.
  8. 184 was the last J15 to keep the older double doors till about 1940 and came across a lovely photo of 184 repainted in GSWR green in the late 1950s which is one of the reasons why it was picked to be preserved by CIE.
  9. Also mixed gauge track at Strabane and Carnlough as well and even mixed gauge turntables at those 2 locations and Derry.
  10. The 6 C class GMs were bought by NIR for the proposed lignite traffic from near Ballymoney to the power stations at Kilroot and possibly Ballylumford. This also involved serious plans to reopen the"back line" from Monkstown to Greenisland, which by way has never officially been formally abandoned as a railway to my best knowledge!
  11. Great stuff Raymond all the rain on Tuesday gave you the perfect excuse to avoid gardening duties!
  12. There were about 6 miles of dual gauge track in Derry with mixed gauge trains as well. Dual gauge track in Larne and Ballymena as well.
  13. Mayner is correct there are 2 good photos of the railcar on trial opposite page 129 of the Ballymena Lines and a short paragraph on page 125 about the only appearance of a railcar on the NCC NG lines. The trial took place just after the railway strike of 1933 had ended which killed off parts of the NCC NG network and other lines such as the Castlederg line as well.
