airfixfan replied to leslie10646's topic in News
Just what I expected as the Jarvis brothers visited the NCC Narrow Gauge lines in 1939. Looking forward to see some new Donegal and Swilly photos as well. We can hope for some new photos!- 33 replies

Working on an article at present on the last days of the County Donegal. The last goods train of 29 wagonscetc through the Barnesmore Gap was hauled by Erne. Have a photo of Donegal Town in the summer of 1960 with tracks lifted but with wagons and Van's still there in the station yard.

IRISH NARROW GAUGE RAILWAY ALBUM (Michael Whitehouse)
airfixfan replied to leslie10646's topic in News
Spotted the changers on the Swilly and the West Clare in particular. Ron Jarvis visited the Co Antrim NG lines in 1939 so I am sure that the NCC lines will feature. Michael Whitehouse knows his stuff unlike whoever wrote the PR stuff!- 33 replies

Leslie he visited the Ballycastle line just 2 months before its closure with a great shot of a double headed train of 2 NCC NG tanks at Ballycastle. Some minor errors in the captions but when is Volume 2 due Michael? -
It was a tidy up job in 2007 for public display only. Loco under restoration now at the RPSI base but with Covid impact the Centre put out a soft appeal for support a few days ago to help fund the Drumboe project.
-
The local Council in Omagh is running an online event tomorrow about the Railway Heritage of Omagh.
-
Was not involved in that restoration. Will not happen in 2021.

Check out the website and posts on our Facebook page Photo of Drumboe in 2007 at Donegal Railway Heritage Centre

Donegal Railway Heritage Centre has launched an appeal for support on Facebook. The Centre has been closed since late September and all help needed as work has started in Donegal Town for the return of Drumboe early next year Restoration work under way now at RPSI and without any income from visitors help is needed to continue to fund the Drumboe restoration plans. Thanks if you help out.

Thanks David but have now spotted one CDR error! Enjoyed the book this afternoon. Judging by this Volume 2 must be on the cards already! -

Book arrived this morning with some great photos of the County Donegal and the Swilly in particular and of course Strabane. Noted that this is a limited edition and well done Michael to see a book with accurate and useful captions! -
Some great railway stuff including the Clogher Vallley. A friend of mine in the Isle of Man cannot access his appearance at Victoria Road Derry for the same reason!

Looks like 291 and 293 ex BCDR 120/1 built as late as 1938 but gone by 1964. -
