Just to add, MM produced four early black and tan 141/181's with small marker lights and tablet catchers, all with different running numbers, so it would be possible for you to get two early black and tan locos with different running numbers.... They were B141, B165, B181 and B188

A couple of observations... Firstly, MM produced two versions of the black & tan 141. Make sure you have the original version, and not the later version. Secondly, there are a number of people on here who could renumber the loco to whatever running number you wanted...

I wonder why this batch weren't finished in a darker shade, considering the colour was one of the main criticisms of the original batch?

As an end user of the fert., I can shed some light on the weight issue.... Basically, a pallet of fert is made up of 40 x 50kg bags, which equals 2 ton. The weight of the bags or loaded pallet hasn't changed over the years, except for a slight variation after the change from imperial to metric measurements... With the beams in the two centre compartments, a fully loaded wagon would hold 20 pallets, which was 40 ton....... However, in later years, a lot of the fert comes in large bulk bags. A pallet carries four of these large bags. Some bags hold 500kg, which means a pallet with four of these bags still weighs 2 ton, and didn't alter the fully loaded wagon weight. But...some of the bags hold 600kg of fert. So, a pallet of four would weigh 2.4 ton. and a wagon fully loaded with 20 of these pallets would be loaded to 48 ton.....

It just gets better and better.....

Is this an O gauge 071? When were they produced?

I've only used AddressPal once. It was a seller who wouldn't post to Northern Ireland, which he needed to do for Parcel Motel. Apart from that, I've continued to use Parcel Motel. While the parcel delivered directly to your home is nice, it's not very practical if you aren't at home to receive the parcel. I think it's a huge advantage to be able to collect from the Parcel Motel locker at any hour of the day or night. AddressPal now offer a service from the USA too.... This should be worthwhile, because as anyone who ever tried to shop on a US website will know, the cost of 'shipping', even for the smallest item, is outrageous.....

That sounds the job alright...... Do we watch this space?

I suppose one thing in their favour is that the climate there is probably a lot kinder to stored stock than it is here in Ireland...

Something else to consider is that the ballast hoppers, (or indeed the dolomite hoppers, if that's what you still intend using the hoppers for), wouldn't have had any of the large stencilled numbers on the sides in that era. I wonder is this a dolomite hopper unloading in the early days of Ballinacourty, before the site work was completed, and health and safety was invented....
