  1. I wonder if there will be much demand for a short lived, incomplete livery? I think a run of 201's in the completed Enterprise livery would be enough to satisfy demand. Maybe I'm wrong.....
  2. Sounds a bit like 'sure it'll be good enough for the Irish lads'.
  3. This is exactly why we should be grateful that someone with attention to detail, like Mr. Humbug, is undertaking the CAD work on the ballast hoppers!
  4. Just wondering here.... are the corrected Supertrain Mk 2's unsold stock that was returned and repainted, or a brand new batch Either way, it's good to see that Paddy has taken action, and rectified the situation...
  5. Excellent news, but when you add to that the new ballast hoppers, it's going to be an expensive new year!
  6. Rails Through North Kerry being one in particular to look forward to
  7. I got mine from the RPSI just before Christmas. Great book, with some lovely photos and information. A second edition with freight trains would be nice! http://www.steamtrainsireland.com/shop/
  8. Excellent detail in those coaches! Well done to JM Designs for producing the sides, and to yourself for the quality of the build!
  9. What are people's opinion on the two vertical creases beneath the centre windscreen? I think they need to be sanded down. From what I can see, the Sulzers had a gentle curve on the front panel..
  10. Wouldn't 'Bo Bo Ghali' be a great username for him, if he had joined the site? I'll get me coat......
  11. I can highly recommend this to you, or anyone who wishes to avoid pop up ads. Just one click, and it's working on your PC or device, and works away unnoticed after that. https://adblockplus.org/
  12. It's hard to imagine that a modern vehicle of any description could have faults like that. It sounds like the modern day farm tractor is built to a higher standard. Draughts entering the cab, and doors flying open shouldn't be accepted in this day and age. Not to mention a poor driving position, with all the focus there is these days on preventing workplace injuries and general workplace standards. What's the procedure when someone accidentally sets off the alarm in the bog? Are you supposed to stop the train to attend to their needs?
  13. It doesn't look so small at all when you see it drawn out like that. How limiting would the first radius curve be? Would a MM 201 get around on it, for instance?
  14. I'm not sure, but you might just get a first and second radius curve onto a three foot board. Google 'second radius curve'. It should tell you what width you need for it.. What locos and rolling stock do you have? Those tighter curves are more suited to shorter stock...
  15. It's looking good! A lot has been achieved in a short space of time. I think I see a new bridge at the far end.. Are the buses set to make a return?
  16. Brilliant job on that! No offence to anyone else who built one, but it's easily the best example of the Sulzer that I've seen.
  17. Yes, that's true. I think the biggest problem is the short length of Irish locos compared to UK locos. The choice of chassis that will fit, or can be easily modified to fit, is very limited.
  18. Why not? Murphy Models, to name just one, achieved it.......
  19. Did anyone here use the Athearn SD9? How did it work out? It should be a fairly good runner....
  20. Am I right in thinking that some of the dolomite wagons went on to be used as ballast wagons when the Ballinacourty traffic ended?
  21. Two excellent photos there, WRENNEIRE! The dolomite loading point at Bennettsbridge is so rarely mentioned, not to mention photographed, in comparison to Ballinacourty and Tivoli in that operation.
  22. The wagons in the photo are the dolomite ore wagons, used on the Ballinacourty traffic. The wagon in the second photo started life as a magnesite wagon, and was converted, which explains the unusual looking sides. Most of the other wagons in the rake would have been built as dolomite ore wagons, and are very similar to the standard ballast wagons..
