  1. I totally agree. Such an important loco in the history of Irish railways deserves to be modelled to the same standard as MM's recent releases........
  2. He told me the same thing, when I visited.......
  3. Here's a slide that is currently for sale on eBay. I'm almost certain it's a dolomite train. The interesting thing is that it's being hauled by a 121 and a 141. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/35mm-Slide-CIE-Irish-Railways-Diesel-Loco-B121-B146-Waterford-1974-original-/271156240182?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D5688616912428718626%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D271156240182%26
  4. I have fond memories of the Ballinacourty traffic. Just a shame I was quite young at the time, and photography or video equipment wasn't as everyday as it is now. The dolomite trains ran from Bennetsbridge, and consisted of a pair of 141/181's with approx 19 or 20 hoppers. 121's probably appeared on these trains too, but I personally never saw them. The oil/magnesite trains ran to Cork, as you say, loaded with oil into Ballinacourty and magnesite to Cork. They were the one train, with the loaded wagons running at the front of the rake. These were always hauled by 001's.
  5. I assume you mean the red and white buildings? They are part of a relatively new industrial/retail estate....
  6. Where did you print the drawings of the Sulzer from? They look very detailed!
  7. If you use Chrome as your browser there is an option to translate any page in a foreign language to English with just one click. It works on this page too..
  8. Another great find of classic shots!
  9. Lough Erne, Broithe and Glenderg, thank you to all for the replies! Much appreciated!
  10. I think there would be some interest in an 7mm 071 alright, if only to have as a display model. Do you have any photos of the wagons you have produced so far? Although they're not Irish stock, It would be interesting to see them.
  11. TY Broithe. I did find this on youtube some time ago. It is an interesting insight into what went on at the plant.
  12. I know it's a long shot... but does anyone have any footage of the trains that worked in and out of Ballinacourty?
  13. I was going to say, surely they aren't the wise men!
  14. Yes, Great find! I'm going to be here 'till next year clicking through that lot!

    SSM Sulzer 101

Maybe someone can start a thread in the Workbench section, detailing the construction of the Sulzer........
  16. I just read through this thread again, as I am about to get an airbrush. In Glendergs excellent post, on the first page, he includes a link to this set... http://www.ebay.ie/itm/AIRBRUSH-KIT-AIRBRUSH-COMPRESSOR-AIR-BRUSH-COMPRESSOR-/370268372610?pt=UK_Crafts_DrawingSupplies_EH&hash=item5635b6fe82#ht_5534wt_1139 The nozzle on the airbrush included in the set is listed as being 0.3mm. Will this be sufficient? My intended work for the airbrush would be some weathering, and painting of any locos or rolling stock that I might build/modify in future. Will one nozzle size do all this work, or would I need a number of nozzles?

Sorry to hear of your loss. It's always worse when it happens at this time of year....
  18. Are the lamp irons a weak point on the 071's? Some of mine were a bit bent..........
  19. When are they expected to be available?
  20. Looks good to me!
