  1. I need to replace the couplings on my Dapol oil tank wagons. Would the #5 and gearbox be suitable?
  2. There is an opportunity here for the Irish based retailers, if they are willing to supply the model with the rails removed, and any other alterations that may be necessary, at a reasonable price......
  3. It's a pity about the grab rails. I just assumed the photo was of a pre production model. I think you are correct about the yellow panels being too rounded at the corners.
  4. The Model Shop Belfast have just announced on FB that two 071's are to be released in the new grey livery, in September. Limited to 252 of each running number!
  5. Yes, air suspension. It's very easy to alter the height, but not by a huge amount. Certainly not enough for the guy in Cork!
  6. Are they trying to drive us to drink, or something?
  7. Yes, a brilliant book! Very generous offer, BosKonay!
  8. I never saw them.... Maybe someone will prove me wrong....
  9. Some interesting news about this in the Irish Mail this quarter!
  10. Any sign of the driver experience courses starting again?
  11. Great pics! Did you walk all the way to Dungarvan? I have fond memories of this line, dating back to the late 70's/early 80's when the Ballinacourty traffic was working on it. Looking forward to seeing more of your pics!
  12. Just my tuppence worth, but as far as new models go, I'd love to see the A class/001's getting the Murphy Models treatment. I know it's unlikely to happen, especially as it's already been done by Silverfox, and everyone already owns at least one, but such an iconic loco really deserves better.....
  13. I never bought any of the early livery Cravens, but I still might. How many were released in that livery? Was it only three?
  14. It will be interesting to see how the new livery weathers........
  15. Thanks to your tip off, I got to see 071 (or whatever it's called now ) on Friday. The new livery does look better in the flesh. Did they park it there along the platform specifically to show it off?
  16. The factory I'm thinking of was located in Belleek, on the banks of the river. It later became Duffy's bakery. I'm probably wrong, though. I was a mere child at the time...
  17. Yes! There was a factory in Ballina at that time that made footballs. I think it was called Mayco....or something similar...
  18. There's three shots in that album. It's all that I found. As I said, I only found them by chance......
  19. I just came across a few pics of a train crash from 1974. Perhaps others have already seen these, but I hadn't. It looks pretty dramatic...... http://historical.glynnsphotography.com/p712197626/h37137F6C#h307bfcd7
  20. If it's something important that you can't use guesswork for, I'd suggest trying to contact someone in Ballina, or one of the other loading points. I'm sure by now, considering the volume of timber they've loaded over the years, they could give you a pretty accurate answer......
  21. I totally agree. Such an important loco in the history of Irish railways deserves to be modelled to the same standard as MM's recent releases........
  22. He told me the same thing, when I visited.......
  23. Here's a slide that is currently for sale on eBay. I'm almost certain it's a dolomite train. The interesting thing is that it's being hauled by a 121 and a 141. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/35mm-Slide-CIE-Irish-Railways-Diesel-Loco-B121-B146-Waterford-1974-original-/271156240182?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D5688616912428718626%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D271156240182%26
