  1. I picked up the kit for the 121 at the weekend and will now have a go at painting and adding the details prior to mounting on an Athearn S1500 chassis. If anyone has any pics or tips for preparing this model I would be very grateful for help or advice. Thanks in advance, Tommy.
  2. Looking absolutely superb. Fantastic modelling skills, scenes and atmosphere.
  3. Looks absolutely amazing Stephen, congrats on acquiring such a fantastic model.
  4. A well known Super Guru of this parish has sourced a kit for myself, while awaiting the kit I had a go at a bit of bash of altering an athearn s1500 to look a bit like a 121! No laughing and never mind the two foot rule this one requires the 12 foot rule. Anyway it's an attempt for someone with no skills or tools for this kind of stuff and helps feed my craving until Mr.Murphy's masterpieces arrive.
  5. Two 071s stabled In Connolly today. Can anyone confirm please - are R.P.S.I. steam locos now stored in the Diesel loco shed at Connolly?
  6. Apologies if this one has already been posted, I came across it and have never seen it before, thought it very interesting. Great to see a passenger service running on the Navan line, MK III push pull and not an ounce of H&S in sight, as Meath went in search of Sam.
  7. Picked this one up on ebay a couple of weeks back, DC and the closest looking thing I have to a 'Yank' until Mr.Murphy's new beauties arrive...
  8. Here's another Dave only showing out of stock at present? http://idmodels.ie/railway/bachmann-uk-31-575-windhoff-mpv-multi-purpose-master-and-slave-units-in-network-rail-livery.html
  9. Agree with Dive and Dave here, Paul is expressing his view of his own memory and recollection of the shop, irrespective of whether he is right or wrong he is giving his own opinion. Tolerance and respect for the opinions of others is surely a prerequisite on a social media site such as this one and as big Dave points out - who among us are infallible?
  10. lovely switcher here billyboy - you have the wifey well trained - probable be the routine socks and that's if I'm lucky...!
  11. I have now dismantled the old "Brickworks" layout and concentrating on the much smaller D.S.E.R. stations representing Wicklow and Rathnew (closed) in the days of loco hauled trains. The layout is small and simple and all the track-work is easy got at for cleaning, fault-finding etc. It is a basic layout and I will hopefully improve my skills as we go along. I only run a couple of locos at a time and this keeps things simple, the power supply is dcc. I'm enjoying running the layout at present and I will improve things - here is a short clip, the pw train is made up of cheap hornby open wagons and the poorly build tankers - carrying heavy oil for shelton - are from Dapol kits.
  12. To the mods - apologies just spotted this news item has already been posted.
  13. Another Ambler Gambler strikes... http://www.wicklownews.net/2015/12/rail-users-experiencing-delays-after-truck-strikes-level-crossing/

  16. I was over in Newcastle during the week with a group of young students who were on an exchange visit as part of the Erasmus+ initiative. I took three students along to the premises of the Newcastle Model Railway Club on Monday evening and we all thoroughly enjoyed the visit. A huge thanks to John and his colleagues there who couldn't have made us feel more welcome and it was great to see young people being fascinated and interested in the hobby. For anyone travelling to the North East I would definitely recommend a visit to the club-rooms on 18 Westmoreland Road, just up from Central Station and opposite the Life Centre. The club room is open on Monday and Thursday nights and the members give a warm welcome to visitors. There are some fine layouts and works-in progress on display.
  17. A few shots of the Santa Special today at Bray and Killiney - apologies for poor quality of the images.
  18. I'll take one please Des
  19. Well done Noel a nice representation, and rake of coaches.
