  1. Apologies if this has been addressed before but I noticed recently a new type of sign in the Greystones - Wicklow section, fairly close to the southbound, distant signal on the approach to Wicklow. The sign in round, colours black and white with a large letter "V" displayed in the centre. Have been curious as to what these indicate?
  2. Lovely loco here Eamonn and you have her chipped and ready. The 141/181 for me are the best models produced by/for Mr. Murphy, they really are superb and you never get tired looking at them. If I had more funds I would buy more of these and they run so well and are versatile just like the real thing. I wouldn't have a clue but would guess that these models will fetch higher prices in the future as they become scarce Congrats on another fine addition to your layout Eamonn.
  3. lovely photo with 071 and C class locos, the wagons look great.
  4. Great looking wagons with the Bells Eamonn, very realistic and authentic scene.
  5. Great stuff here Noel you have a lovely rake of stock here, great loco sounds and the Cl 55 Chassis was a great transplant for your A, lovely smooth running.
  6. Made it up to Downpatrick with the wife and kids on Bank Holiday Monday and got a few shots, a great day out and fantastic work by all involved in keeping the railway looking, and running so well. Amazing too to be standing in the ASDA carpark (waiting for the wife!) to hear a 141 ticking over in the nearby station yard. Looking forward to the next trip up there.
  7. A few of shots of 084 passing through a damp Wicklow at 7.12pm today on the return leg of the strand tour.
  8. Interesting views on DMU's which now seem to be here to stay - I actually like the 2900s, to me they look like a nice train, albeit they are set up for outer-suburban work and have regularly appeared on longer distance trains in the past. I was on one recently with the kids and they loved it. There was some hard acceleration away from stations and lots of engine growl. I traveled on the cravens for years and loved them but compared to the 22k comfort and facilities you can understand how the general public would probably choose the latter. On another point - when the existing rolling stock is life expired on the Dublin-Belfast route does anyone think that electrification will be seriously considered?
  9. Hi lads, I picked up this little beauty from Dermot who runs the vintage toys/model shop in Gorey. It's HO but I still love it and gave it a try today and after a bit of shorting at the outset it ran smoothly and reliably. I remember these machines well when they ran down the DSER in the good old days and often you might catch them stabled in a local station in between jobs or at weekends.
  10. This is a great work in progress and that bachmann 150 is a lovely smooth runner.
  11. Very interesting and thanks for posting the pics Dave. http://website.lineone.net/~sjohnson40/Loco%20Profiles/DClass.html
  12. Excellent smooth running here Eamonn, the loco and the period train with weathered vans and brake really look the business. How one would love a time machine and a good digital camera! why didn't I take more photos in the good old days when engines ruled the rails.
  13. Pure amazing detail and realism David.
  14. Great looking layout and depot and class weathering on the locos and MK IIs.
  15. Amazing work here, she is sure to be a smooth runner and a class machine.
  16. lovely machine here Eamonn great to have a model of that pioneering class.
  17. Hi all, A few pics of the RPSI trip to Wicklow and Greystones today, Monday 6th April.
  18. Thanks ttc and Eamonn - very impressive stuff, love Rathmichael the station building is very like that at Wellington Bridge and the 121 is class.
  19. Would love to see a few pics ttc or Eamonn if ye managed to get any?
  20. Thanks snapper I will be at Wicklow with the old camera.
  21. Thanks Eamonn it's an achievement for me to get three trains running at the same time! even if two are DMU's. Hope the Wexford show is a great success there is always some fantastic displays down there in a stronghold of the hobby. Thanks for including the link Stephen. Happy Easter to all.
  22. Given that it's Easter week, a little bit of running on 'The Brickworks' 077 is still stabled in the Glass-case bit she'll have to get out for a run in at some stage.
