  1. Nice work there gm I like the station buildings the 201 and the set - different coaches in the set compliment each other well. The crossing always looks well and is very authentic too.
  2. Lovely scene and shot there Ben and I love the river.
  3. Lovely work here and a great fleet of bubbles.
  4. Lovely work there Eamonn, your a great man for the old plough-vans. I love one of this level of standard.
  5. Could be worse Eamonn and heirflick - He should have gone to specsavers!
  6. Thanks lads and the same to all you, we've never had it so good and more exciting times ahead in Irish Railway Modelling.
  7. Hi to everyone and Happy Christmas to all, I hope Santa will be kind. I was lucky enough to pick up a Mr. Soundguy GM 111 chip a couple of weeks ago. Here is a short vid with a bit of light engine running - takes a bit of time to get the hang of the settings but I'm very happy to hear the big GM sound in the attic, especially as here near the DSER route it's only the distant sounds of those MTU's that you hear. Thanks for taking a look - lots of improvements to be made but working slowly towards them. [video=youtube_share;12lJuGYHgJI]
  8. Hi all just an update - I recently received a sound chip from Mr. Soundguy. After a bit of fiddling and advice from Enniscorthy Man, finally got her up and running. Happy with the sounds and the loco is running well at slow speeds and thanks to Keith for his helpful and prompt service.
  9. Lovely work there Alan and the makings of another top layout. Look forward to scenery in the future.
  10. Love the layout there Noel and the GM sounds are excellent - if only we could relive this scene - the B141 and vans look great too.
  11. Lovely C class there and great idea to fit the chassis from the electrodiesel.
  12. My present circumstances are tight but I would certainly 'scrape together' the funds to put up front the price of either the A or 121, a couple of either. When my own financial circumstances allow I will certainly give Paddy Murphy's project further support by buying more of his existing models, which are available at present.
  13. Well done Anthony, pushing out the bounds of realism there and she looks amazing.
  14. Thanks Dive, I'll have a punt on that one.
  15. Gave the wheels of 039 a good cleaning again this morning, see short vid of the running characteristics - this is with the supplied 'pancake' chassis by SF - okay running at medium speed but any slower than that and she is jerky and erratic. Very slow running is out of the question, now my track is not the best but any of the murphys locos are running fine on it at very slow speeds. My A class is chipped so running on a DCC set up, I will try her later on my DC line but for me it's an achievement just to have this loco running reliably at medium speed. The other issue is that she would be a poor hauler and you would need to set the speed at a high rate to ensure the loco clears even the slightest gradients - result West Clare Railway speed on some sections and HST on others! Will have to get that chassis. P.s has anyone found does adding weight to the supplied chassis make any difference in terms of smooth running?[video=youtube_share;viV48jqdpQw] Thanks, Tommy
  16. Well done A Class 001 looks excellent. As with Eamonn's machines you must have achieved smooth, responsive running characteristics after the conversion. DiveController I will post the pics as soon as I can get a suitable donor, although I will be seeking the serious help and advice of Enniscorthyman, who lives not a million miles from me and is a master at this stuff. Tommy.
  17. Thanks to all of you for contributing this advice, A Class I would love to see pics of the loco and maybe I too, will find it a bit easier to pick up a 31 as the Deltic appears to be scarce enough and rising in price as mentioned by Eamonn. Eamonn many thanks for that offer and I will definitely be calling to see you as soon as I pick up the donor Chassis. I like the SF A Class, I know she's not perfect, but it would be nice to have her running smoothly and reliably.
  18. Thanks richrua, yes it was Eamonn who advised me of a suitable donor - just like their real big brothers these locos would seem to require a 'transplant' and some day I'm sure they'll be replaced by a first class model.
  19. Hi lads, Would anyone of ye have a reasonably priced donor chassis for the Silver Fox A Class Locomotive? Despite many mods to the original supplied chassis (with pancake motor), the loco is still running erratically, a Hornby railroad Deltic might do the trick if anyone has one to sell. Thanks in advance, Tommy.
  20. Thanks lads it is slow progress but getting there bit by bit.
  21. Hope this one works. [video=youtube_share;NmacUaE2d6M]
  22. Thanks J, again apologies and I'll try to reload that vid later.
  23. Thanks for that Dave think it's running there now.
  24. A few more bits of progress - improving the farm buildings, moving of level crossings to a different part of the layout and the ballast train has grown to a longer rake. Apologies, not for the purists but small steps for an amateur and it's great to run something. Thanks for looking in again. [video=youtube_share;4QbOOgOn92c]http://youtu.be/4QbOOgOn92c
  25. A few bits that interest some members. http://www.donedeal.ie/hobbies-for-sale/train-collection-for-sale/7859367
