  1. Dave, were those pieces not geared towards easy railing of stock before a running session?
  2. I'll actually be picking up a few bits and pieces, plus extra apps, for iPhone filming, as I use the phone for some of my work now. It's handier than lugging a camera around all the time. I know of at least one TV news reporter who's produced news packages using an iPhone and the results are amazing...
  3. If you're shooting with your smart phone, this is handy and costs peanuts: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/New-Tripod-Stand-Mount-Holder-Apple-iPhone-4S-4G-3G-iPod-Touch-4-Black-/170872048524?pt=UK_Holders_Mounts&hash=item27c8c48b8c Hope they lay ballast better than the real ones do at the moment!
  4. Brilliant!
  5. Now let's see you weather a loco that's recently been through the washer!
  6. Sure, with his skills he could build his own... ...rain might cause some problems, though!
  7. A pint of plain is your only man.

Export models like GM's G8 were available at the same time, John, but I think that discussion is for another thread... I think the only reason the B class order went ahead in the end was because CIE were told to do something with the engines or BRCW would dispose of them because they were taking up useful storage space.

Yep, he made it quite clear he wasn't impressed with British diesels. It's even more astonishing that CIÉ decided to persevere with the order considering that Bulleid would've seen a lot of the UK diesels close up at the end of his time with British Railways (and had two prototype diesel locos of his own built)...
  10. Cracking game tonight... and the stage is set for one hell of a final, too. Pirlo has been magnificent. His performances at Euro 2012 have surpassed anything else he's done in an Italian jersey before, including the World Cup victory in 2006. And to think AC Milan cut him loose because they reckoned he was past it! On another note, seeing as the two teams in the final came from Ireland's group, does that make Ireland the 4th best team in the competition?
  11. It wouldn't be far off the old Great Northern Railroad colour scheme then, would it? http://www.gnrhs.org/CON4.JPG Nothing wrong with the loco in that pic at all, Fran!

It's not beyond the realm of possibility that a certain Mr O V Bulleid looked out his office window in Inchicore, noticed the shape of a Sulzer cab and gained inspiration for the design of the 'Irish Cab' of the GMs...
  13. Yet another cool one... tasty!
  14. The one I've been waiting for... it looks the bees knees!
  15. I have a kit and an SD9 chassis. It was earmarked for someone else but they haven't gotten back to me about it. I'll check with them and if they're no longer interested I can offer both to you for €70 + P&P.
  16. Put on Nine Inch Nails' first album, 'Pretty Hate Machine', earlier. Scary to think it was recorded over 20 years ago! [video=youtube_share;ao-Sahfy7Hg]

    Dapol signals.

The GWR version is closest, as it's lower quadrant like Irish signals.
  18. They must've gotten the idea from the RPSI's Jazz Specials...
  19. Jaysus, but me head is melted trying to whittle down this list... 121 141/181 071 B113/114 A class Honorable mentions: B101, C class, E401/421, G class, Woolwich Mogul, MGWR E/J26 class 0-6-0, C&L 4-4-0, CB&PR 2-4-2... and too many others to list here!

Better do as he says, Des... wouldn't want you to get clobbered on the head with that weathering stick of his!
  21. The Pennsy colours look fab on it...
  22. Nearly threw the TV out the window watching McGeady tonight... what was with the constant need to cut back into a bunch of their defenders when he could've ran to the by-line and put in a cross? Ridiculous. Trap's rationale seems to be that he plays for a team challenging for top-tier league titles, so he must be good - same way Gibson got games when he was at Manchester United, but hasn't been seen since he made the move to Everton (and improved). McLean looked lively when he came on... hope he gets more game time against the Italians so we can get a proper look at him.
  23. Harsh. Could lead to key players leaving, too. Paddy Power have suspended betting on David Moyes taking over.
  24. Not quite... they can still progress if they beat Portugal by two clear goals and Germany beat Denmark. It's a tall order based on their displays so far, though.
  25. 1-1. Kuba's goal was bloody excellent!
