  1. Don't tell her about making holes in the wall - just do it... she can't say no then!
  2. The book is long out of print, but Martin Bott has both editions in stock: http://bottbooks.com/onlinebookshop/books.asp?mthd=srch
  3. Well known railway photographer Brian Solomon has posted a couple of entries on his blog with images from some of his visits here: * Sperry Train at Islandbridge Junction * Looking back on Irish railways 1998-2003
  4. Sounds like a plan. (Apologies for dragging the thread off topic)
  5. Looking forward to seeing the revised trackplan! I'd use timber-sleepered tracks in those sidings, especially the freight ones, as sidings don't tend to get relayed too often.
  6. As a guide, Atlas RS-11s seem to go for around $90 on eBay, which works out at €72/£57. That's for the undecorated version, though... not sure if the painted locos are more expensive.
  7. Thanks for posting that link - I'm listening to them now... excellent stuff.
  8. http://www.flickr.com/photos/13713567@N06/6942413195/in/set-72157629481589663/lightbox/ Note the pairs of 121s - black & tan matched with Supertrain!
  9. Excellent photos... is that a Spanish coach the locotracteur is hooked up to?
  10. Great photos, Kirley. Any more of the French layout?
  11. Six samples he provided in 1999 tested positive for EPO but he escaped sanctions because of technicalities. Interesting article here from the New York Times suggests the chickens were coming home to roost anyway... the supporting evidence is overwhelming at this stage: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/25/sports/cycling/antidoping-officials-move-to-wipe-out-armstrongs-titles.html?pagewanted=1&_r=2&ref=sports
  12. I used to work for a company that was based along the Athlone Road in Longford. From where I sat I had a good view of the rail bridge there and the number of trucks that struck it was unbelievable... at least twice a week!
  13. Don't forget the 10ft CIÉ Uniload containers either
  14. Thanks Richie! Now all that's needed is for one of our resident manufacturers to produce transfers for the Sperry wagon...
  15. Nice footage there of an A class at full throttle! The ore was originally transported to Arklow for transfer to ships there...
  16. Do you have a link to the images, Richie? I'd be interested to see them
  17. Sure wasn't roses... it was the staff. The signal cabin must be beside where he was standing.
  18. Hi Frank, The Sperry wagon is an ultrasonic testing machine which scans the rails to monitor the integrity of the steel. The tank wagons are only in the consist to provide extra braking power, as the Sperry is apparently quite heavy and the loco brake on 071s is 'soft'. It's really just a case of attaching whatever wagons are available at the time. The Sperry train has previously used the new spoil wagons for the same purpose: http://www.flickr.com/photos/be216cd1/6754449143/
  19. Looking forward to watching your progress with it!
