  1. Huge difference between Cobalt motors and Tortoise... the Cobalt is far more compact.
  2. It's kind of weird when you look at the steam engines in that video and realise they're all still around, while the 'modern' train at the start - the Bo-Bo GMs and the Mk2s - have all since been reduced to razorblades...
  3. They look more like infantry lads with a bad case of cav envy to me!
  4. It's really starting to take shape... lovely stuff!
  5. We really should've had this one all along...
  6. Not a Celtic fan at all, but I watched the game because I couldn't get to a TV with Sky Sports to watch the Man United game. It was one hell of a performance... blood and guts! And Forster was like a brick wall in front of the goals!
  7. They were in bad luck with the personalities they hired for promos... they had Gary Glitter in a magazine campaign as well!
  8. Good stuff, Dave. Spotted a Transcontinental set for sale at Raheny (at the Letterkenny layout, I think). That Tri-ang power bogie ended up under a lot of things... my little old Dock Authority shunter sits on top of one, too.
  9. Cheers Tarabuses. Is the paint included with the kit or is it supplied separately?
  10. How much is the M class kit?
  11. Just when he was starting to get some sleep at night, too! He slaved over the 800 class kit for a loooong time, so I wouldn't be holding my breath for an SSM DSER mogul to hit the market just yet...
  12. It would be worth firing off an email to the RPSI about this... some of their crew may have images of work being done in the workshops. They could also put out a request on their e-bulletin, which more often than not will yield results.
  13. It would be interesting to see, but economics stand against a ready-to-run model of 461. Only two such locomotives were built for the DSER, so there would be limited appeal in that regard. A brass kit would certainly be a possibility, though... as far as I know, no other DSER locos have been produced commercially, and the two moguls got to stretch their legs beyond their old stamping ground under GSR/CIÉ, giving more modellers an excuse to run one.

    Rpsi

It's not really the RPSI's decision. IÉ basically don't want any orange coaches roaming around the network...

    Rpsi

Yep, they have a couple of them (not including the presidential coach). They'll be tweaked and added to the Mk2 set... you'll know them by the windows.
  16. Great work so far... really enjoying following the build!

    SSM Sulzer 101

There's a photo of a green Sulzer in 'Irish Railways in Colour: A Second Glance' by Tom Ferris...
  18. She's been trouble ever since she returned to steam, but fingers crossed her problems are behind her now. The RPSI certainly won't want to have to run diesel-hauled Santa Specials again...
  19. A members meet-up could be one possibility, but would require a venue (and bouncers ). If organised properly, there could be 'show and tell' sessions, demonstrations, maybe even a guest speaker...
  20. Then stick a bunch of cavalry lads in the back... they'll be mortified!
