  1. Cracking game tonight... and the stage is set for one hell of a final, too. Pirlo has been magnificent. His performances at Euro 2012 have surpassed anything else he's done in an Italian jersey before, including the World Cup victory in 2006. And to think AC Milan cut him loose because they reckoned he was past it! On another note, seeing as the two teams in the final came from Ireland's group, does that make Ireland the 4th best team in the competition?
  2. It wouldn't be far off the old Great Northern Railroad colour scheme then, would it? http://www.gnrhs.org/CON4.JPG Nothing wrong with the loco in that pic at all, Fran!

It's not beyond the realm of possibility that a certain Mr O V Bulleid looked out his office window in Inchicore, noticed the shape of a Sulzer cab and gained inspiration for the design of the 'Irish Cab' of the GMs...
  4. The one I've been waiting for... it looks the bees knees!
  5. I have a kit and an SD9 chassis. It was earmarked for someone else but they haven't gotten back to me about it. I'll check with them and if they're no longer interested I can offer both to you for €70 + P&P.
  6. Put on Nine Inch Nails' first album, 'Pretty Hate Machine', earlier. Scary to think it was recorded over 20 years ago! [video=youtube_share;ao-Sahfy7Hg]

    Dapol signals.

The GWR version is closest, as it's lower quadrant like Irish signals.
  8. They must've gotten the idea from the RPSI's Jazz Specials...
  9. Jaysus, but me head is melted trying to whittle down this list... 121 141/181 071 B113/114 A class Honorable mentions: B101, C class, E401/421, G class, Woolwich Mogul, MGWR E/J26 class 0-6-0, C&L 4-4-0, CB&PR 2-4-2... and too many others to list here!

Better do as he says, Des... wouldn't want you to get clobbered on the head with that weathering stick of his!
  11. Nearly threw the TV out the window watching McGeady tonight... what was with the constant need to cut back into a bunch of their defenders when he could've ran to the by-line and put in a cross? Ridiculous. Trap's rationale seems to be that he plays for a team challenging for top-tier league titles, so he must be good - same way Gibson got games when he was at Manchester United, but hasn't been seen since he made the move to Everton (and improved). McLean looked lively when he came on... hope he gets more game time against the Italians so we can get a proper look at him.
  12. Harsh. Could lead to key players leaving, too. Paddy Power have suspended betting on David Moyes taking over.
  13. Not quite... they can still progress if they beat Portugal by two clear goals and Germany beat Denmark. It's a tall order based on their displays so far, though.
  14. 1-1. Kuba's goal was bloody excellent!
  15. The class 25 freight set was my first train set, too... obtained second-hand after my mum's friend's sons had outgrown 'toys'. Soon followed by my dad's old Tri-ang stuff. I have one of those old Lima green Mk1s in its original box. How much are they worth, Dave?
  16. Didn't see the first half, so I can't comment on that... PS: hope Poland can scrape a result against Russia after the antics of the Russian fans today!
  17. Don't know about that... they've earned a point so far, which is more than we can say!
  18. On another day, that game would've finished 2-2 but it wasn't to be. Now we need to beat both Spain and Italy in order to progress, which I don't see happening. We had some unusual Trap decisions again... like bringing on Cox (an out-and-out forward if ever there was one) to play wide left instead of McLean. Something tells me Trap may step aside after this tournament. He can't get much more out of this group of players... and a lot of the central figures will be considering their futures at international level after Euro 2012.
  19. Nope, the RPSI locos are stabled at the end of the carraige/railcar sidings at the back of the station, beside the car park.
  20. Watching the Italy v Spain game at home, then heading to the pub to watch the Ireland match.
  21. In a somewhat bizarre move, it looks like Fabregas is starting up front for Spain tonight...
  22. Apart from Kerzhakov... he had a 'mare!
