  1. There were plenty of Atlas/Stobart (made by Oxford) models flooding the market to clear, might still be some shrapnel left, look at Hattons, Marks Models etc Ideal for conversions, plus I dont like stobart either, ideal way to upset a few of their collectors
  2. They might be still lying around the network a lot of the time but the 071/111's are still needed, all those PW trains on NIR and IE dont move themselves...
  3. Inbetween being one of, if not the greatest NFL players of all time, he is an Irish Model Railway enthusiast!!! Who knew. Although his touchdown passes to Rob Gronkowski are better than his models any day
  4. Is it me or does this look a lot like one of these with wheels under it.... The real one also didn't have a bar between the axleboxes, never mind bent like a Banana... I don't know, the top level stuff that IRM are producing for the Irish Outline market that's easily available, no chasing invoices, waiting on emails, dealing with a very part time operation on every level - they are easily available provided you order promptly, even can pay by instalments, yet people tolerate this level of model - still I think IRM should just admit defeat now, close up, find something else to do, I hear the railways in East Africa are now popular and models are in demand despite the poor quality cottage industries producing stuff, a new direction - EARM maybe?
  5. Just because it is old, does not necessarily mean its worth a lot of money..........
  6. Just dont watch or even speak of that channel for a more fulfilled life
  7. Correct, the thinner centre section means you cant fit a reasonably big speaker either
  8. Meow - 'Man angry he bought an A Class over the odds and he's been asked to pay for wagons that are now in stock' Meow Meow Meow Private Suppliers are the best salesmen going did you not know that? They will tell you anything for a sale, why not refer to the Source/Manufacturer each and every time. Be thankful for the excellent IRM Customer Support too a lot of other manufacturers could learn from them. Meow
  9. They did initially for Dublin suburban work with the 121's, which restricted them to 70mph but later gained the Mk3 BT10's when they needed to go faster with 201 power
  10. First video is interesting - proof that they didnt always run a genny at each end, guessing this was filmed in the summer. First coach also has a broken window... Second video - look at the offset buffer on 209, rough shunt....... I've seen them, DBSO anywhere in the set really, second/second last coach behind a genny, quickly thrown in to extend the set
  11. What are you looking for, or just anything and everything?
  12. The one I saw you get a lovely piece of wood for the chassis.... That is a good starting point, the cab is inclined ever so slightly back so you will need to remove the end of the Mk3 and make a new end, and the windscreen is the same size as a standard Mk3 window BUT - I'd hang on for a year or two, as these have been announced by Murphy Models in RTR
  13. The one without the rollcage is definitely 70's era, as seen in this classic CIE video around the 3min mark
  14. Best bring your own food and drink, like you always did VID-20220503-WA0002.mp4
  15. Ran out of time in New York recently before I could have a closer look at a well known example....
  16. Wonder what Bachmann and Hornby say......
  17. Anyone else spot our sneaky promoting in Inchicore recently? Interest in Model Railways in Ireland has never been better, and planning is now well under way for October, with massive interest from both Layouts and Trade alike, the old favourites along with few newcomers. Just over 5 months to go
  18. Can only agree here Fran, great event and it was great having our jolly good chums from IRM beside us too, only a good omen for October given we ran out of flyers by lunchtime... The interest in Model Railways in Ireland has never been better which is very refreshing Also took a few photos that you wouldn't normally get the opportunity to... 8112 meets her 1/32 and 1/76.2 scale friends And some discreet advertising for October.... Alas will probably be another few years before we get to exhibit inside Irish Rails Nerve Centre, but who knows... Was a great event and worth all of the emails and phone calls, a massive credit to Peter Smyth, Rory West and everyone else who made it happen. Was the most comprehensive public works tour ever, very few places that you couldn't venture through compared to the 150th anniversary open weekend in 1996 Not forgetting this model we had on display - the CME department were most intrigued..... Cheers Ed (on behalf of the MRSI)
  19. I saw that sign, but there was no date on it, probably part of the RAIU investigation, also then to stop it being cannibalised after Heres a photo from Saturday You can see where the original split was, but as said by @Warbonnetabove it really is a testament to what IE can still do at Inchicore when needed
  20. Likewise in the same career for a similar amount of time - they think we can press a button and it magically re-appears. Never been easier to save data these days
  21. People must be buying them if they are still making them.......... This goes with the 66 too. Hornby are still the defacto model railway brand for many
  22. Unmade Silver Fox C Class (Rebuilt Version), complete kit with glazing and bogie side frames €50 ono,can post at buyers expense or bring to Inchicore Open Day
