  1. Push it forward a decade at least Mk3 Cortina and Mk2 Escort make it the late 1970's
  2. Finally the Dapol ones are on their way, only took 7 years, but not the longest wait for a RTR loco either
  3. They did get to Derry at least once, a pair visited with a rake of Ferts but this may have been in lieu of a 141/181 or two. There was a video on youtube but sadly gone Also the first 'farewell' tour featured 101 from Coleraine to Derry, along with plenty of other things from 3 decades ago
  4. Its traditional almost that there is engineering work taking place all around the network on the October Bank Holiday weekend, been the same for years. The motorcar has never been more practical
  5. From experience it wont be long, you may have them by the end of the week
  6. Marks doesnt as much, he said the artics dont sell as well compared to the cars, light commericals and buses I've the Tinnelly Demolition Scania TCab tipper here, but thats a keeper Another one to watch out for is the Alfred Hymas DAF 2800 - all depends on what cab you want
  7. You are aware that there is the biggest model railway show in Ireland taking place on the same weekend in Dublin
  8. The NEW MRSI website is now online with details of the 2022 show https://www.modelrailways.ie/events/exhibition-2022
  9. Like a lot of NR liveried stock, launched in a blaze of glory to spend a lot of time lying around the place. The only 73's NR have in use now are their 2 Minions - the rebuilt 73/9's
  10. Every day is a school day
  11. 'Pushes glasses up nose' - the 3 NIR 111's have the NIR logo - its the 071's that have the flying snail..... With the sheer amount of pubs being closed down and cleared out lately expect more 'signs' railway or not to appear for sale
  12. The 'Modelling Irish Railways and collecting and selling and discussion and wishlisting and criticising and buses' page on Truth Social is getting popular now
  13. Remember the giant kinder eggs the size of easter eggs? This was the bit inside with the toy. Handy for storing small things
  14. There were plenty of Atlas/Stobart (made by Oxford) models flooding the market to clear, might still be some shrapnel left, look at Hattons, Marks Models etc Ideal for conversions, plus I dont like stobart either, ideal way to upset a few of their collectors
  15. They might be still lying around the network a lot of the time but the 071/111's are still needed, all those PW trains on NIR and IE dont move themselves...
  16. Inbetween being one of, if not the greatest NFL players of all time, he is an Irish Model Railway enthusiast!!! Who knew. Although his touchdown passes to Rob Gronkowski are better than his models any day
  17. Is it me or does this look a lot like one of these with wheels under it.... The real one also didn't have a bar between the axleboxes, never mind bent like a Banana... I don't know, the top level stuff that IRM are producing for the Irish Outline market that's easily available, no chasing invoices, waiting on emails, dealing with a very part time operation on every level - they are easily available provided you order promptly, even can pay by instalments, yet people tolerate this level of model - still I think IRM should just admit defeat now, close up, find something else to do, I hear the railways in East Africa are now popular and models are in demand despite the poor quality cottage industries producing stuff, a new direction - EARM maybe?
  18. Just because it is old, does not necessarily mean its worth a lot of money..........
  19. Just dont watch or even speak of that channel for a more fulfilled life
  20. Correct, the thinner centre section means you cant fit a reasonably big speaker either
  21. Meow - 'Man angry he bought an A Class over the odds and he's been asked to pay for wagons that are now in stock' Meow Meow Meow Private Suppliers are the best salesmen going did you not know that? They will tell you anything for a sale, why not refer to the Source/Manufacturer each and every time. Be thankful for the excellent IRM Customer Support too a lot of other manufacturers could learn from them. Meow
  22. They did initially for Dublin suburban work with the 121's, which restricted them to 70mph but later gained the Mk3 BT10's when they needed to go faster with 201 power
  23. First video is interesting - proof that they didnt always run a genny at each end, guessing this was filmed in the summer. First coach also has a broken window... Second video - look at the offset buffer on 209, rough shunt....... I've seen them, DBSO anywhere in the set really, second/second last coach behind a genny, quickly thrown in to extend the set
  24. What are you looking for, or just anything and everything?
  25. The one I saw you get a lovely piece of wood for the chassis.... That is a good starting point, the cab is inclined ever so slightly back so you will need to remove the end of the Mk3 and make a new end, and the windscreen is the same size as a standard Mk3 window BUT - I'd hang on for a year or two, as these have been announced by Murphy Models in RTR
