Great work, looks the biz

Thanks Dave, yeah i had thought of rushing in slapping down a few boards and just running a few trains but then i kinda thought it'd be a better idea to get everything done first then bulid the layout. Typical attic too hot in summer and too cold in winter but hopefully I'll have addressed that soon

Very good just had a look at the 350's, they could be an option alright Yeah i'll check out a few of the suppliers, not in a mad rush at the minute but defo something I'll chase up after Christmas.

Grange Castle will be ( hopefully ) a modern day commuter town with station handling, Intercity, Commuter, Dart and Enterprise. Layout will be in the loft with circular line around the edges of the loft. Plan is for 4 track run around. Outside the station will be a large bus station, the town itself will have a large stobart depot. Thats about the basics at the mo. So far i've gotten my water tanks moved and floored the attic my next step is to insulate the roof in some way and finish the electrics. Stock so far for Grange Castle is : Mark 2a IE Intercity coaches x 6 Galway coaches x 3 IE Genny Van IE Restaurant Cl.201 No. 222 River Dargle Cl.201 No. 201 River Shannon Cl.141 No 171 Bachmann 2 car Commuter Weedsprayer Autoballaster x 2 And a Virgin Pendolino 4 car set On the list for near future; Cl. 071 x 2 Cl. 201 Enterprise 2 X 4 car DART ( resprays) Thats about it at the minute, I'd love to say there'll be weekly or even monthly updates but its a case of do what i can when i can afford the time/ money to do it. But I am planning for around summer ( yeah I know, not even Christmas yet!) to have to the baseboards down and track laying to begin. On the Pendolino I have has anyone attempted or seen a respray of this into Intercity livery ? I really want this train to stay, I know i can have a wanderer but I'd like it to fit in. I'm not too bothered about resprays being model accurate but livery is important to me, sorry if i dont make sense with that last statement. And does anyone know what sort of price i can expect to pay to have it resprayed ( properly) ? Also does anyone have a respray DART ? would love to see it. Thanks.

My favourite is, " Ah there was a fella looking for something that I had and I didn't want so we did a swap " Has worked twice so far, but now i get everything delivered to my mothers but this ain't gonna last too long as we all know the way they talk and hang us out to dry.... Next stop for me i think is parcel motel. Or maybe it'll be me ending up in a hotel !

Not long back from the show, good turnout, some lovely layouts and a good variety of trade stands, anyone heading there Sun/Mon be sure to check out stand G, Chris Dyer and Dave Bracken, the stock they have is amazing. I was like a kid at xmas just looking at their display ! Nice to see a few people from here, although i only got to speak to one or two. And of course got to see the STAR of the show, the 071's, in all their glory ! Can't wait to get mine on Tues, hopefully !

Murphy Models 071 - New, detailed pre-production photos added!
Grange Castle replied to Admin's topic in Irish Models
Thats more of a layout than I have, mine is all in boxes having never seen the light of day ! I'd make sure that door is double locked and you key on the inside, don't want anyone coming in and stomping on your new 071 ! -

Have to agree with what the lads have said, i'm really looking for a Dart for my layout but i rather have a respray of something into Dart livery even if its not the exact model than have entirely printed model. It looks very toy'ish to me, and lacks 3d detail, i just don't think it would look well beside super detailed MM's. I though the 400e was a typo ( seriously ). When you look at the detail on DK's creations there is just no comparison. I'm sorry if i sound harsh and this is only my opinion. I think its a very brave step for people to model the Irish scene for production and i wish anyone who does so well but they have to look at Murphys, DK and silverfox to see the standard people ( well me anyway ) has come to expect. Again this is my opinion and i do not wish to offend anyone.

Now i'm not very good with Helicopters but I think they are both Eurocopters although i could be very wrong:o also they have a rarely used fixed wing aircraft a Defender i think its called. Air support unit is based fairly close to my house so every time they chase some skanger in a banger the structural integrity of my roof is tested by them taking off and landing:((

That Garda Van looks very good, looks like a window grill is will be present on it, can't wait for these to come out, I've been pestering a guy in the UK to produce a few similar to this for me but he never got round to it. I'll be picking up a good few of these to join the rest of my Garda fleet, Think i actually have more Garda vehicles than the REAL Gards do, they'll be perfect for my layout (when built:o ) theres going to be plenty on public order issues in Grange Castle and of course there'll have to be one parked outside the chipper ' on refreshments ' All i'll be missing now is a Garda helicoter, would love to have the skills to make one

Amen to that

The Trucks of Ballykay
Grange Castle replied to Flying Scotsman 4472's topic in Trucks, Vans and cars
Hi Frank S, yes this volvo was originally a ' Police ' one but the decals where stripped off and ' Garda' ones applied. Can't claim to have done the work myself, a guy in the UK who i've since lost contact with did it from pics i sent him, I've a few other Garda vehicles here http://www.irishrailwaymodelling.com/showthread.php/492-Grange-Castle-s-Vehicles
