The recent arrival from New Zealand of the JM Design 20 ton CIÉ brake van inspired me to put together a new video for my YouTube channel, looking at the changes in CIÉ freight working from the 1950s into the 1960s - many thanks to John @Mayner for this cracking model!  The Hatton’s Genesis coaches make a brief appearance too!

Yummidy-yum yum yum 😋

🤍🤍🤍🤎🤎🤎

Very excited to return home to these magnificent models!!

They look amazing and have a very decent weight, and I will definitely make use of the cardboard boxes included in the packaging!!

Hope to get a run with them tomorrow (the vans, not the boxes, before some wannabe comedian chips in).

Great job IRM!!

A host of Hs - my two Provincial Wagons H vans from @leslie10646 have been added to the IRM rake!  The PW vans carry my first attempts at weathering, not sure how successful that was, so it makes the others look like they are just out of the factory…..

What are Enda's contact details? I thought I had them but can't find. Methinks I need a few of those....

I chat to him on FB Messenger JB but he’s on the forum here, can’t remember what his name is here though!  @enniscorthyman can tell us am sure!

It really looks the job Patrick. And a seagull there to welcome it!  Did you fit a sound decoder?

Very nice indeed!

I take it this is the Drogheda shuttle which follows the Entetprise, but runs ahead of the Ardee goods?

Something like that!!

Looks like you'll need to insert a chip well and truly into that seagull..............

Ouch

So sez the seagull...........  just thinking, had that branch existed, it's very probable that the service would have been a single BUT car in and out from Drogheda maybe 3 times each day....

Yip - hence the delight in acquiring said unit!  With grateful thanks to Paul Chapman for making it available!

Wouldn't have a notion about that!

There can be quite surprising variation in the gauge of wheelsets supplied by model manufacturers.

  • If they are a bit too close together on the axle, they get trapped across the checkrails of turnouts and crossings, and ride up.
  • If they are a bit too far apart, the checkrail can't do its job properly and the opposite wheel flange can ride up on the crossing nose.

The bumpy running over the double slip that your video shows, suggests that the wheelsets aren't set quite right.

The gauge illustrated by @Galteemore is what you need to adjust the wheels a fraction so they will run smoothly.
