The similar J72 was used for J26 conversions during the late 70s

The overall length of the NER E Class is similar ton the P J10/614 while the wheelbase is closer though the wheelbase is closer (5" longer) than an E J26/551.  

The P Class wheelbase is 15" longer than NER loco.

Its a big ask I know but would anyone have photos of the cab interior of the MGWR E/J26? I cant for the life of me establish whether they were screw or lever reverse and which side that was mounted on etc etc

had a 'solid reversing wheel' according to a Decade of Steam, along with a 'butterfly regulator' and the somewhat infamous (to GS men anyway) letterbox firehole door.
