Patrick Davey Posted May 2 Posted May 2 This should be interesting I have the above x 4, so 48 in total. As usual, a very high quality product from Modelu. Getting ready to spray white primer, then I will pick out the details. Can’t have a coastal layout without the ubiquitous sandwich grabbers 3 1 Quote

Galteemore Posted May 2 Posted May 2 I know you’re desperate to have a model of 171 Patrick….. is this some kind of subliminal message to IRM? I suppose the next thing we’ll see are van loads of sleeves from Brookhall arriving… 2 Quote

David Holman Posted May 2 Posted May 2 There is the question of what species are they? No such thing as a 'sea gull', instead many types from little to greater black backed, but in 4mm scale, quite how anyone could distinguish them is a challenge. The shade of grey on their backs, plus the colour of feet and beak sets them apart to some extent. Most of these will be herring or lesser black backed. 2 Quote
Tullygrainey Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Am I herring you right? You bought 48? People will be flocking to see this. 2 Quote

Flying Snail Posted May 3 Posted May 3 You need to watch the bills with seagulls - don't try to wing it or you'll get in a flap! 3 Quote
Broithe Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Did they come with feet? Or do you have to find your own on the web? 2 Quote
Patrick Davey Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 47 birdies ready to stick on the layout. One seems to have flown off….. 6 Quote
Galteemore Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) But surely there’s only one bird fit for Clogherhead….the loon, better known as….the Great Northern Diver….. Edited May 4 by Galteemore 1 Quote

Seriously, the gulls look great. 2 Quote
Broithe Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I gannet get enough of this kind of thing, but I do hope that everybody gets a tern. Might they have been a bit easier to paint, if you stuck them on a skua? 3 Quote

David Holman Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Feet should be either yellow, pink, or grey . With that number of birds you are probably going to need to make a fair bit of guano... 2 Quote

One should always pick a correct species for the area and model/paint accordingly. It's jarring to biologists to see inappropriate species depicted on layouts. 5 Quote
David Holman Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Episodes of Poirot, frequently annoy me as they rarely get the right locomotive for the period. 1 Quote
