BosKonay Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 It is - I got a batch of card ones off ebay to have a play, they arent bad, though could use a little more skill than mine in assembly :) Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Yoy're flying Stephen. Is that a Bell container I see in pic 2. Rich, There is nothing wrong with your eyes mate when you can see that I even missed that oneROFL Quote
BosKonay Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 The boards will get shoved back in against the wall when I've finished the tracklaying, popped on the backscene and laid the back platforms (save me poor back reaching over the boards ) Quote
201bhoy Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 This layout is class! Is it just me, or should the bachmann engine shed be over to the left a little so that the tracks are in the middle? Quote
BosKonay Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Hi 201 - it's very roughly placed for now just for sizing, etc Quote
BosKonay Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Got the points and track glued down and droppered for the coach sidings, tomorrow hopefully will get the per-way sidings done and I'll snap a few update photos! Quote
Guest hidden-agenda Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Your flying and looking forward to more pics. Quote
BosKonay Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Minor update on the throat and coach sidings so far… Quote
Broithe Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Ladders and walkways on the shed look very good - health and safety!.. Quote
BosKonay Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 LOL, it's the track complexity and points I'm worrying about mainly at the moment :) A few more days should see the coach sidings and per way sidings functional, as well as the throat to those points. I need to sort motors for the points next so I can power the frogs and get decent running Quote
BosKonay Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Got the coach sidings fully laid just there now, one more todo ticket off Once the glue dries, I'll have an excuse to dig up a few boxes of cravens and 'practice' shunting the coaches between the sidings and platforms Next week then the plan is to cut, lay, glue and dropper the per way sidings and the overall station throat down to mainline level.... Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 A long way to go mate you may get stuck in over the weekend Quote
BosKonay Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 i know - I honestly don't know how you make such rapid progress!! Are the elves appearing in the night to lay track for ye ? Quote
Waterfordtrain Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 its looking great wishing i had a room like that. Quote
RedRich Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 i know - I honestly don't know how you make such rapid progress!! Are the elves appearing in the night to lay track for ye ? I was about to suggest the same thing myself Stephen. With all the other things he has going on he should win multi tasker of the year. Mind you I think that the younger Bosko's must be sneaking out of the bedroom at night to lay track on Amiens Street, especially when we see the rate that you are moving at too. When it comes down to the wiring and other electrics for my own layout I could offer cheap B&B for both of you at Casa RedRich. Rich. Rich, Quote

201bhoy Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Boskonay, are you planning to make the platform out of hornby stuff or something, or are you going to do the MDF job? Quote
BosKonay Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 I've got some Peco platform sides I'm going to try out, and then most likely use a printed card for the platform surface (scalescenes, or perhaps Glenderg ) My platforms are too wide for any of the off the shelf options! Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 I think Stephen you may be better of to cut them out of MDF or PLY and attach your platform sides Wills stone or what ever you want to use. Another good platform is the Metcalf platform as you get wide sheets and you can cut them to the size you want Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 You need to get some water hooked up to that wash Quote
BosKonay Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Cheers Anthony! Yes the wash has its work cut out for it with that minging cafe bar Quote
Broithe Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 I'm only surprised that Anto hasn't converted one to fire dirt... Quote
BosKonay Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Have seen that - am a big fan of everard jctn Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Everard Junction does so great videos I always look forward to his new releases Quote
BosKonay Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Quick update but no photos today Got all the points between the platforms and the mainline down today (the station throat). 7 large points, 3 medium a double slip and a crossover all adjusted, frog isolated, droppers soldered, laid, glued and set Phew! Hopefully tomorrow I'll get a few snaps once the glue has gone off and I can take the weights off the trackwork This was the big bit that was scaring me from my planning days and I'm happy to say that, as long as you just focus on each point as an individual, and go through the steps carefully, there is nothing more to it than laying a single point Quote
