Eclipse Now

If you noticed the sun dimming over the last 10mins, it's an eclipse right now...

(Dont try to look at it unless you have the right filter for doing so, danger)

Must be this odd thing blocking the light of the sun…

Back in 1999 I was at Boston Lodge watching the sun through a welding mask. 
Today, at home with a more prosaic pinhole in a sheet of black paper.

That’s very impressive @Broithe. Hardly seemed to affect South Oxfordshire at all! I see that Laois continues to lead the way in avant-garde sleeve styling

We had about 5% of the Sun left and it still seemed fairly adequate - they could turn it down a bit - in fact, it was a bit too strong this afternoon.

Extra ventilation ports - essential when the temperatures are fluctuating so rapidly.

Never before have I had to look at a 2-2-2 through a welding mask

Was using a welding mask, Not a loco (or much else) in sight.

In Athlone, there was clouds (surprise surprise...), but still noticed the darkening of the light out in the garden.

I used a cd to look through, as I had used this for the previous eclipse back around 2000. Ok result, considering the clouds fairly blurred the view

Good views of it in Dublin. Brought back memories of '99 when when I squinted at it from a mark 2 set on my way down to Rosslare Europort

The German who bought the last-minute eye protection devices above did take the precaution of first asking me if I happened to have any eclipse glasses already.

I told her that I didn't, but I did have a few Eclipse saws, if they were any use to her.

She still let me use the second pair of glasses, when the dog didn't need them...
