My hornby dcc select wont work right.when the train should stop it keeps chugging track clean wheels are clean help please

Was your loco DCC ready or was it converted to DCC.The reason

I ask is if the motor has supression capacitors still attached,this

can cause poor response to loco motor.

I have not heard of any DCC faults with the 141's Sean, but the Hornby Select has had a few bad reviews,

The select is not entirely dcc compatible, I used one for a few years, it was fine while using hornby chips but other chips could misbehave

If your using a bachmann 21pin chip the problem may lie there to solve it you could get a normal 8 pin hornby decoder and an adaptor to fit the 21 pin socket on your 141.

The adaptors are cheap enough, the hornby decoders are not that expensive. To be honest I d change the controller as in the long run you d be better off.

Is the power track your using a orange coloured one?, Hornby have a DDC power track specially for DCC.

 

If it is the Orange coloured Power track socket, then you can take off the cover and remove the Supression Capaictor in that or change it for a DCC power track which is: R8241

 

Also it could be the Back EMF is set wrong. Had this problem on a few baccy chips recently.

 

Hope that helps but try the power track solution 1st.

That's Gas alright.I have seen this problem before with the

Capacitors,but perhaps it might be only certain types of

chassis that this affects,however I always remove them

from the likes of the deltic chassis.

As regards the 141,the select as far as I know is very basic

for DCC,but a good wheel clean could help and have you tryed

a different decoder?.

Don't actually know if this matters, but I read / heard somewhere that you must connect the black & white wire to the right side,

Heres the pic of the track part with the cover removed. Take out the Blue electronic component and put the track back into the layout and insert the wires. that shuold be the end of the problem for you.
