BabyGM Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 It came in a Hornby set with a few wagons, Mr. Bracken will be able to give you more info. It was loosely based on a British GWR prototype I believe and has been churned out in all different liveries. Thanks Quote

BabyGM Posted October 13, 2012 Author Posted October 13, 2012 Today I started fitting Kadee's to my fleet I started with no 201 I used Anthonys guide to fitting the Kadee After putting it in place i drilled a small hole in the back of the Kadee then put in some brass wire to keep the coupler where it should be Here are some pictures I'm also making a stand out of plasticard for the steam engine in my last post to sit on as it dosen't have any use on the layout Quote
BabyGM Posted October 19, 2012 Author Posted October 19, 2012 As requested by HeirFlick here are some pictures of point motor progress Also some pictures of Kadee progress, the messiest layout in the world and a stand for the 0-4-0 steam engine My EGV I'll probably put some coach or wagon alongside the steam engine and then the stand will need painting Quote

BabyGM Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 I started fitting point motors yesterday and I've began to run into problems I'm using Everard Junctions tutorial as help Here is the switch board the point in question is in the bottom right corner The back of the switch The point motor The point And the instruction sheet I'm using I've gone over all the wires and connections a few times and everything seems alright whenever I go the change the point it just gives off a buzzing sound and when I try running a train over the top part of the point it cuts out :confused: any help would be greatly appreciated Quote
BabyGM Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 I just noticed that my diagram is wrong so I'll try again later Quote
BabyGM Posted December 8, 2012 Author Posted December 8, 2012 Today I decided The layout really needed to be cleaned ,again So once I got that out of the way I put all of the trains back on I've been meaning to try and sort out my point motor problem for a few months now and sheer laziness has gotten in the way so tomorrow I'll give it a lash and see whats going wrong Hopefully I'll be able to run trains properly for the first time in about 6 months Quote
201bhoy Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Layout's looking really good! Loving 112 especially, hopefully she'll be in my hands soon! Quote

BabyGM Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 (edited) Over the past few weekends I've been re-laying the layout using woodland scenics foam and using Boskonays ballasting method Here's a few pictures I also introduced height to the tracks to I can have a beach on one side and a canal on the other Tilted corners ,probably not obvious Edited January 18, 2013 by BabyGM Quote
BabyGM Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 I've also sorted out my problem with point motors It turns out it was as simple as I didn't have a CDU All I have to do now is wait for Marks Models to get them in Quote
Kirley Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 No sooner have you cleared up your layout area and it just gets crowded again. It’s very difficult to keep it clear unless you are one of those very organised persons. As long as it is progressing I wouldn’t worry too much, it’s going the right way. Quote
BabyGM Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 I finished off relaying the track today and slightly changed the freight yard 082 helps with ballasting Some Metclafe buildings Quote
BosKonay Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 I love the elevated track - reminds me of greystones with the tracks running alongside the beach! Quote
BabyGM Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 I love the elevated track - reminds me of greystones with the tracks running alongside the beach! That's what I'm aiming for A beach on one side and a canal on the other Quote
BosKonay Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Are you using double stacked matches as filler borders / containment? Any idea on what kind of filler you are going to use? Quote
ttc0169 Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 So far so good-your autoballaster train has been busy, well done. Quote
Dave Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Looking good, keep those pictures coming. 082 looks great with the auto ballasters Quote
BabyGM Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 Are you using double stacked matches as filler borders / containment? Any idea on what kind of filler you are going to use? Yes ,concrete will cover most of the freight yard, I need to do another stack of matches as the current line isn't great I'll use pollyfilla ill probably use whatever I find in the local hardware shop Quote
BabyGM Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 Thanks lads @ttc and Dave yes the auto ballasters have been busy I'm just waiting to see if marks models plan on doing a run of standard wagons if not ill have to repaint my own Quote
BosKonay Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 As a tip, you can buy cork floor tiles from woodies. They pretty much match up exactly to rail height. Am thinking of experimenting with using them as hardstanding, then filler between the tile edge and the track... You can see a similar method here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php/blog/1/entry-44-inset-trackwork-on-keyhaven/ On the upide, its a lot less filler, and should be easier to get an 'expanse' of flat, level surface (you can always spread filler thinly on the tile anyway before painting too) Quote

BabyGM Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 Hi guys At last i got a CDU yesterday which means I can get my point motors to work, This morning I wired in the first motor and then tested it It threw the point no problem but when tried to drive a loco over it it just shorted The point is electrofrog, insulating fishplates on all rails, no droppers other than the wire going to the frog from the Seep PM1 So does anyone have any advice into where I'm going wrong Here are some pictures of the point in question and 082 and a video of 082 trying to get across the point s1096.photobucket.com/albums/g329/brianwalshmk3/?action=view¤t=92E033F1-DAD3-4D27-A015-E0517D475C45-1522-0000048603791EBA_zps6b0a44dc.mp4 Quote
