Was reading an article on their delivery from the factory to the docks using uk standard gauge bogies and running as part of goods trains. Theres photos of at least one of these runs which i ve seen & is also in one of Mr Bakers excellent West Cork railway dvds

 

Interesting stuff Tom, that's a sight I'd love to see. Any idea where you saw the pics?

I think the original order was 100 locomotives from Metropolitan Vickers, 60 A classes and 40 C classes, but with the closure of branch lines and other cut backs, the order was reduced to 34 C classes, in total 94 locomotives where delivered.

Great film - funny it says that 99 locos are being produced in total, being 36 Cs and 63 As...

 

The film was made by Crossley Brothers. The statement '... 99 engines made by Crossley Brothers Ltd to power their locomotives ...' refers to 63 engines for the A class (3 spares) and 36 for the C class (2 spares).
