Kirley
The BUT 700 Series and 900 Series Railcars, introduced by the GNR(I) but later passed to the CIE/UTA and NIR. Allen Doherty from Worsley Works had promised me he would do brass etches for them and as good as his word they arrived today. As you can see they are not a full kit but an aide to building one. I hope to get started later in the Autumn or sooner if I can get a move on with my current projects. It will not be a straightforward build but it is one I can't wait to get started on. Mike 84C
I look forward to this build, what mech; are you going to use? Subtle differences to the CIE AEC's.
popeye
Lots of pics of the build please. What motor will you use? And what livery?
Kirley
what mech; are you going to use? I intend using Black Beetle bogies, 10' wheelbase and 12 mm wheels.
Kirley
What motor will you use? And what livery? Black Beetle bogies, as for livery that is a hard one, so many options to chose from.
Blaine
What roof will you use
Kirley
What roof will you use The same as before on other Railcars I've built using a widened Comet aluminium roof and Isopon. There are some pictures of UTA Railcar 6 & 7 showing the method. If there is an easier way please let me know.
Andy Cundick
All my coach roofs are rolled from 5 thou brass shim its easy to form and strong when curved its been used for everything from Castlederg and Donegal coaches to GN railcars,Andy
Richard EH
Hmmn, might have a crack at some printed bits for this - including the roof for the 700. The dome shape on the 600/900 would defeat my 3d design skills! Richard.
Mayner
I originally produced a 3d printed roof for the tin van kits, but ended up using a formed bass roof for the production version as the 3D printed roof tended to distort, taking on a banana shape
popeye
Maybe you could 3D print the front curved bit and brass sheet for the rest of the roof.
The Derry Road
Kieran, I'll be watching your progress with interest. If your other railcars are anything to go on, this will be superb. Many photos please TDR
