  1. I've been trying in vain to find any photos for point of reference of the freight yard at Dundalk on the Ardee Rd and not the old barrack street one. If anyone has any pictures of the yard in operation and at the very least with the crane that use to be there could send them on i'd very much appreciate it. Thank you in advance
  2. Just came across this post but thanks for the education. Never knew that existed in the town or how much has been lost. The railway is truly a shadow of its former self.
  3. I used white primer for the lines, satin black and the orange is RAL2011. The decals are from railtec
  4. I'm in the process of repainting Jouff mk3 coaches right now. Waiting finish painting them all before applying decals but like mentioned above the hornby rake i which were my first attempt at painting are noticeably shorter
  5. Is it possible that damage could have been cause in transit? He did get back to me but I find it hard to believe that there wasn't any sound when he "tested" before posting
  6. Well I've done the first but I hold no hope. I must admit I never would have thought of contacting Murphy's models. If marks models do repairs then I think it'll be the best port of call regardless
  7. I got it on eBay. It's second hand, the seller needs to revisit how to write descriptions because it clearly dos not running well. Also had a cosmetic issue or two. If this is the issue how do you go about getting a replacement gear?
  8. I'm no expert but to me my newly acquired enterprise liveried 201 dos not sound like everything is all right. Could anyone give me any insight into what the issue might be and how it can be sorted by someone with next to no knowledge of the internal working of a model train. As always I appreciated. 20190801_093236.mp4
  9. First two finished with transfers applied
  10. Cheers mate. There's a few areas on the lead couch to be addressed but overall I'm happy out. Only five more to go haha
  11. Extremely please with how this turned out. With a bit more care and patience I think has paid off in a much better result and with a lot less bleed through of the paint
  12. I think for now the Hornby ones will do as practise in respray. The restaurant couch is nearly ready for reassembling
  13. They just arrived in the post. Fingers crossed as I've never done it before I've three jouef mk3s that are longer then the Hornby ones. Would they be closer to scale lengthy I wonder
  14. First attempt at a respray using mk3 hst coach. Just waiting on transfers to arrive. I did encounter slight overspray in parts but I'll know in future and will take more care.
  15. This might be of interest. Hattons have listed the class 121 on their website and appear to be taking pre orders . I dont know if its been mentioned already .
  16. I'm along way off my vision and i'm sure there will plenty of fun and of course mistakes along the way. Thank you though, I've got plenty to think about.
  17. The short bay into the station is a loco park area as seen in Dundalk station where i took the track plan from. The frieght yard due to room constraints had to be re positioned to work within the available space as the one in dundalk would have pushed the weight out by many feet. I know the sidings are very tight together in the plans but that would be address during the building. I understand where both yourself and Glenderg are coming from in terms of moving stock from the freight yard into storage or vice versa and even getting coach stock from the south bound line (The line at the bottom) into storage. Out of shot i've planned for a cross over set of points at each end of the station and in my mind the freight yard would function as the head shunt when not in use. As i plan on running a full length class 201 and passenger rack i can see from your comments i wont have enough length for that plan. Thanks for the comments though.
  18. So thankfully after a few months away i'll be home in a few weeks and with plenty of time to myself for construction to begin. I've spent my time researching and buying bits and pieces to begin my layout starting with the station design shown. This will be my first time building a layout to my own design and am a self-pro calmed novice as i don't count the time spent building predesigned train sets when i was younger haha. My layout will be based on a fictional part of the north eastern rail network which will focus on freight with occasional passenger services. This is due in part to the expensive nature of passenger rolling stock. track is peco code 75 which will be pre-wired for later introduction of DCC. I would appreciate your thoughts, suggests and any helpful tips you might have.
  19. The colour was very bright i thought but if i can be dulled down it may be worth investing in. Just need to think about biting the bullet with that price
  20. Are the mk3 EGV's ordered by silver fox worth getting?

    Vote for IRM!

    Done. Good luck
  22. I seen that to when it went up. I've seen a photo online of one done it that. Is there anyone who produces a full set for the intercity or is it build your own as close as you can?
  23. I just believe in enjoying my money regardless of the time of year. Dm sent
  24. As the title suggests I'm looking at getting my hands on an intercity liveried 201 in good condition both visually and running wise. I was hoping one would appear on eBay but no joy
