Thanks David - I value your kind insights! The corner stones really are too rough. Think I’m on a learning curve with DAS clay... hopefully future buildings will be better! The upper story rendering is some lovely stuff from Vallejo called stucco paint. It’s a really creamy texture which dries like plaster with a suitably varied finish. A quick rub over with grey acrylic and weathering powders does the rest ..

Well, finally something to post after many weeks of occasional modelling interrupted by other stuff. It’s my first ever scratch built structure so loads of mistakes but I’m reasonably happy for a first attempt.....a few finishing touches to add still. Since posting the images, I’ve toned down the mould effect on the render a bit to make it slightly more subtle... also included is a pic of the inspiration! It’s not a 100% accurate model of Dromahair - there are tiny bits of Florencecourt too such as the prominent stonework on the join between the main building and the outhouses. Some of the details are rather obscure in photos so some parts of the build are taken from my grandparents’ farmhouse! They are both buried in Dromahair and the farmhouse (which was up the line near Lisgorman halt) was of similar layout to the station....

Sad news. One of those figures who kept a model business up and running in the relatively barren years of the 80s.

Great work there. They totally identify the layout as Irish even if no rolling stock is visible.

Thanks Patrick. Those family connections are special. I’m just finishing off a model right now of the station where my grandfather’s freshly caught salmon were weighed before despatch to Dublin. I even found a 7mm model of the scales!! (The weighing scales, not the fish scales )
