The thing is, there ARE nice Irish buses out there, but the runs tend to be so small that they are only available for a very short period of time. The secret Facebook Van Hool Atlantean is a prime example, but even the IRM commissioned Rail Link buses flew off the shelves incredibly quickly. Then somebody comes along looking for Irish buses, and the only ones they can find are going for crazy money on eBay. I know that eBay pricing is a whole different debate, and there are arguments for and against crazy prices, so let's not digress on that here.

LOL, same here! Just a shame that Hot Wheels are 1/64 and not 1/76. Although, 1/72 Real-X and Cararama don't look too bad alongside the trains.

Stuff like Opel Astras, Volkswagon Golfs, Ford Escorts etc will surely sell well, even with the UK registrations, as they're Irish deep down!

Anything that ran in a lot of different liveries AND had a long life-span is gonna be more commercially viable. Aside from the WV's, I'd love to see another run of the Imps, and a load of Olympians in different liveries. CMNL have two Dublin bus models due out, an ADL MMC Enviro 400 and a V/A CitySwift BT7L ALX400, so we also have those to look forward to. Hopefully, IRM will be stocking them to make it easier to spend even more money!

The Laminates covered steam and diesel eras, right up until the nineties, so would probably be sufficient as a bridge without the prior need for more locos and railcars... And would probably pave the way for the C being an even quicker seller when it comes out... In 2025!

Even though I prefer modern image, as in today, I would definitely buy several versions of an Irish steam loco if released. I reckon that to make it fiancially viable, as others have said, a variety of liveries would need to be available, including a preserved livery. Have any of the preserved locos had different liveries while in preservation? If so, and if represented by the model, you'd appeal to those modelling different modern era decades, as well as those modelling steam era. From a sales point of view, with the A almost upon us, and several more bullets threatened by the IRM lads, maybe, in general, people couldn't afford to invest in steam for a while. If there were two or three different laminates available in say, a years time (I'm sure this was discussed at length by @jhb171achill in a thread on the scarcity of coaching stock), each in a couple of liveries, to compliment steam, the A's and more modern era layouts, that would probably bolster sales of a steam loco in two years time. A loco without rolling stock or rolling stock without a loco will probably suffer from slightly depressed sales. Laminates would present an ideal bridge between the A and a steam loco, if the runs were big enough. Either way, it's an amazing step to take. I'll pick up several of the GWR Manors just to support the lads, and hope to one day see an Irish steam loco. For now, my Irish steam collection is quite limited.

So the last K1's ran in 1960, both in green and in black, and the last grey K1's ran in the mid fifties? The UK SR green is a more urine or olive shade of green, so would have to be weathered, I'm sure... But I'm probably thirty years away from retirement so we'll put a pin in that for the next 11,000 days or so. I'd want to be running the latest incarnations possible, and would probably stretch the limits of reality in order to run them alongside some grey 121's. But in reality, from an RTR perspective, they'd only have run alongside A Classes in 1960? The 1960 K1's would have hauled silver tin vans with green passenger stock?

Yeah, and nobody could afford to buy everything all at once, anyhow! The lads had to defend the launch several times in the comments section, highlighting the date that they started work on the project. Sad.
