  1. Show off those weathering skills and give it a heavy dose of rust, soot and grime!
  2. Says Trump!
  3. Trying to figure out how to click the "Like" button twice...
  4. Those three being for the sixteen (was it sixteen) Mk2's from Vic Berry?
  5. Unfortunately, my SF model has the dual white stripes but not the big shoulders. So it's kind of a Dutch mongrel. Was it three or four that were converted?
  6. Yeah, those "shoulders" really stand out! Was the GSV to EGV conversion the "rebuilding"?
  7. What differences are there between original and rebuilt Dutch Vans, both cosmetically and technically? I see above that three were converted from GSVs to EGVs! Are they the three which became known as the "Rebuilt" ones or were the rebuilds and the GSV / EGV conversions two completely different things? When were they converted?
  8. But their HO Gauge range would look so good in a display cabinet alongside their N Gauge, OO Gauge and O Gauge stock!
  9. I love the transitional livery! A few weeks back, I was almost thinking of buying a ST 121 to stick IR logos onto.
  10. Lovely photos, lovely layout, amazing hurricane-like progress this year, and that's a lovely vehicle selection!
  11. Fingers crossed that the stock lasts until the end of this month!
  12. Hi all. I'm looking for a Bachmann Class 166 centre car. It doesn't matter whether the motor runs or not, or if the paintwork is bad, once the body and glazing are not damaged, and the wheels run freely. It will be a donor for something else!
  13. What are pre-order availability levels like at the moment, in particular the IR Bundles?
  14. Is there actually only one Spoil bundle left in stock, or are there more?
  15. They'll look fabulous behind that grey 071!
  16. I think that more important than lubricating them would be videos of the unboxing and their virgin runs. I've bought several 141's and 181's this year, brand new in box, and have broken them in gently, slowly running them in, in both directions, unladen, with no problems. A tiny amount of oil appears to have seeped out of one or two while still in their boxes, but this has not affected their running. I've never in my life seen locos so smooth, silent or sensitive. Using DC, if the old Hornby controller isn't exactly at zero, the MM Babies will start crawling away while trying to rail them.
  17. That one has the more typical chunky resin look to it, but the door hinges and handles are a nice touch!
  18. What a dilemma for IRM... After the Mk3 and Mk4 coach sets, the RoadLiner trucks and green buses, and the N Gauge sets that they'll surely launch with an 071 and some Mk3's, they have to decide on whether they'll first launch Irish track, or their HO gauge range!
  19. It's definitely Silver Fox alright, now touched by the Hand of Noel, and slowly migrating a few thousand km south. Spoke with Chris of silver Fox and he told me that they used laser-cut mylar for the sides, allowing the flush glazing. From the photos, it's a world above previous versions... Probably another consequence of Paddy Murphy and the IRM lads raising the bar for what is considered normal nowadays!

On the roof of IRM Towers?
  21. Just saw these two on Hattons website. Not very Irish but still, cheap flats for your containers.
  22. Gobshites in the two factories, so. Running thousands of coaches for PM, and they only run three or four extra units of each! I mean, what was the point? They earned nothing from that. The price tags were aged, so they'd sat somewhere a few years before Jose of El Imperio bought them. If they had any sense in the two factories, they'd have run 2500 extra Cravens and 2500 extra Mk2D's. Set up 20 eBay accounts, sell two coaches per month from each eBay account, launder 2500 dirty coaches over 5 years, no problem. They'd have just about finished laundering the Cravens when the Mk2D's were produced, so the timing would have been perfect. Not that I'd know anything about scams like that, of course...
  23. Yeah, doesn't it usually say "Limited" when there are more than 75 available? It's a brilliant tool for budgeting, working out which ones to buy, first.
  24. I was just gonna say that! The bundles are great value, saving you 10% on all eight wagons. For the quality, both aesthetically and physically, you're not going to find better ready to run flats for the 40ft containers. Hattons have used Hornby 60ft flats every now and then, but they don't look very Irish. 47ft flats pop up on eBay every now and then, possibly IFM flats, for €50 or €60 each. Shapeways offer 3D printed flats which you then smooth and paint yourself, then add bogies etc. Somebody, possibly Robert, recently posted a thread of all of the different container flat kits that he built. There may be some inspiration and advice there if you'd prefer to build some instead of buying ready to run.
  25. In simple terms, how would a supplier, be it MM or somebody else, prove that the items were not bought by one retailer from another, and that they were indeed over-produced by the factory without the permission or knowledge of the supplier? Would they have to do so through the courts in the country of manufacture? Sadly, China does not have the best reputation internationally for protecting copyrights and intellectual property, and I always wondered what would happen if one of the factories did something like this. How many models were over-produced without PM's knowledge?
