  1. Just received an email from Hatton's, announcing 35 ton Class A and Class B Tank Wagons from Heljan: https://www.hattons.co.uk/directory/versiondetails/article?id=1109 There are currently fifteen Class B variants listed. I have read here on the forum that many of the Irish tank wagons were ex-UK Class A and B wagons, but the shields / anchor strips running along the sides at the base of these Heljan releases look like the pre-1980's type. I also understand that the longer Class A barrels were more common than these Class B barrels. Several informative posts from @Mayner and other members here, here, here, here, here and here. SSM used to do a detailing kit in OO Gauge which included the shields, but I get the impression that Des has retired, or is at least uncontactable this year. That's a shame, as the shields probably could have been scaled up to O Gauge. How many Class B wagons ran in Ireland?
  2. Absolutely lovely stuff, @Rob! Feel like I repeat myself every time you post but I just love your layout. The roads and footpaths are excellent!
  3. IXO Models TR149.22 and TR100, a 1993 Freightliner FLA and a Mack R-Series, both from Coches de Metal!
  4. Everything about this layout is on the ball. The blue stock, the trackwork, the scenery, the weathering, it all just comes together perfectly.
  5. Did you repaint the arches behind the diesel depot or is it just the lighting?
  6. It's the most-viewed on the forum by quite a stretch!
  7. Love it, TTC, have always wondered about track cleaning on such a large and spectacular layout.
  8. Almost sure that @BosKonay said no when I asked about this, as the bogies and lighting are integrated, but I'm open to correction.
  9. Just catching up on this thread, now. Outstanding work, @Patrick Davey! In particular the two post near the top of this page with the coping stones and the quoins, just wow. That said, the most impressive aspectof this thread is that it hasn't decended into farcical pun-itive jokes, yet.
  10. That's class, pure nostalgia. Is it a Fowler4F? Haven't seen one of those in a few months...
  11. Just to clarify, the black and orange full brake no. 79 is NOT sold out. The TITLE says that it's sold out, but you can still buy it. https://www.hattons.co.uk/1056113/hattons_originals_h4_6fb_1703_6_wheel_full_brake_79_in_cie_black_tan_sold_out_on_pre_order/stockdetail Click "Pre-order" or "Pre-order to trunk" and it IS available.
  12. I wonder if Lima and Hornby both used the same measuring technique and reference points, or different reference points for the same radius! The @WRENNEIRE song:
  13. Go to the first post in the thread, the very first post, click the three dots in the top right corner of that post, click "Edit" and edit the title.
  14. The track level and platform level shots are sublime, TTC! Just out of curiosity, after watching 161 and 132, is there (and was there back then) redundancy built into the rail network? Is there a spare loco on standby, or does launching a rescue mission require cancelling something else? If there is redundancy, where would the spare tend to be lurking?
  15. Some users posted the links to their ex-FotoPic collections here. Hope you find what you are looking for.
  16. Very sad news. My condolences to all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
  17. Can I live in your house, please?
  18. I'm sure I read that they are trialling something along these lines in the US, but I can't remember the specifics.
  19. Diesel Depot looks lovely wearing the BR blue trim. Flashbacks of getting the SeaLink over to Holyhead many moons ago!
  20. Project 47!!!!! And green Dublin buses! And a B&I ferry, sure why not?
  21. Pity there wasn't a baby in a pram on the platform... Could have asked them to return for a cameo today.
  22. One other issue is increase in velocity vs. reduced autonomy. Autonomy for our van was calculated at 65kph in optimum conditions. I've tried driving faster to see what happens, and it drastically reduces the autonomy. Apply the same logic to a battery electric freight loco and it's very easy to guess that it may not be viable. OHLE would be amazing but may not happen quickly. Battery electric multiple-units are something that I can see working out. There is so much space to add batteries under floors etc. I don't have any figures so I'm guessing here, but surely a full load of passengers adds a lot less than a full container, meaning that battery Container Flats may fall victim to the weight issue. Again, to clarify, I'm massively in favour of EVE's as part of a transport strategy, where and when they are suitable.
  23. A bargain from a man we all know, the Bachmann Irish 2700 Full Set, only €250! https://www.adverts.ie/toy-cars-trains-boats-planes/bachmann-2700-iarnrod-eireann-set/31558529
  24. IXO Models TTR012 1978 DAF 2800 with the usual Salvat / Edicola trailer and Everest containers:
