  1. There are two 73 rebuilt projects on the go at the moment, the MTU engined one is for GBRf and they'll use some of them for the sleeper contract in Scotland. The multi-engined apporach has been undertaken by RVEL for Notwork Fail errrr... I mean Network Rail! http://paulbigland.zenfolio.com/p119809187
  2. There are some in America called Gen sets. There is a BR class 73 being converted into one too. 57s were indeed converted from 47s, nearly 20 years ago now by a specialist builder (Brush traction)
  3. GE bypassed EMD in the early 80s when it came to US loco sales with a combination of great deals and the then new SD50 being appalling. However it's interesting that there's not one of the pre Dash 8 era GE locos left running on class 1 railroads while EMD locos of similar and earlier vintage are still running in their thousands. There is also the new emissions regulations which came into force in January. Not many engines out there are now suitable for locomotives. It'll be interesting to see what IE comes up with turning a relatively simple EMD 2 stroke loco into a complex multi engined rebuild that will have to jump through heaps of red tape. The world has changed since the A Class rebuild, does inchicore still even possess the required skills for such a massive project? Be surprised if it happened myself.
  4. I wonder what work the additional locos will be doing considering there's no work for them at the moment?
  5. Hawkins Street still have them, including in their front window. They're still out there for anyone who is after them.
  6. One of the Mark IIIs has been pictured in Scotland being refurbed and painted in a dark blue...
  7. I read elsewhere that Belmond dont want the colour getting out yet, so it's been painted in this interim livery for testing etc and will then go back in for its final livery closer to the launch date.
  8. Can we leave that to Facebook and not go into it here please? Thank you.
  9. C Rail intermodal. They're very nice.
  10. Lovely locos Eamonn, thanks for sharing!
  11. A few from today from me, including 087 on the liner. More on my flickr, enjoy! 087 Ballina Dublin Liner 2 by franburke, on Flickr
  12. Cheers Noel, cant wait to see her out again. Be interesting to see the final touches.
  13. Well it's certainly emerald green! Nice one Noel, is it just plain green on the sides or is there a design to it?
  14. They can be slow to approve. Try 'Irish Trains Past and Present' too. They have some knowledgeable souls on there too.
  15. Sweet, I'll stick up a pic up of it when I get home later if I get the chance, from the cab windows up needs a complete re work.
  16. First I've seen of this, very interesting. As a bit of a lego lover myself I've been working on my own designs a while back. Had the guts of a BR Clayton done, still needs a lot of work though. Will you be sharing the finished file? Might be interested in doing one off your instructions myself.
  17. I would urge you not to make this mistake. You would be much better served to allay any customer concerns (on a forum with a large potential target audience for you might I add) than take a defensive stance like that. Instead of having a go at understandable and genuine questions by potential customers why not answer them? And why not answer them where they're being asked than telling them to go to Facebook?
  18. Notwork fail have had a few brain farts recently...
  19. No but I believe it's being run out of his home rather than a 'bricks and mortar' style arrangement. I am 90% sure (although maybe someone like Mark's, Seamus Graham or Herr Bracken can confirm) that you need to have a shop before Bachmann will provide you with stock to sell?
  20. A chat with Mr. Bracken awaits you.
  21. That's class Eoin, could've done with a fan like that today in work!
