  1. Hornby have replaced these venerable with a newly tooled, cheap Mark I I'm their 'railroad' range over the last 18 months or so. Still an impressive production run nonetheless. The only major fudge was that the full brake was the same length as the opens, sleeper etc when in reality they were shorter. The new railroad models are quite nice by all accounts.
  2. The old BR intercity livery was known as this in the 80s and 90s. There is similarities between the two liveries in fairness.
  3. Don't think any retailer sells them here. Best be would to be buy from a German retailer online.
  4. Limited edition, hard to find, Irish, O Gauge, Bassett Lowke. That's all the 'collectors bingo' lights lit up there. Still a tad overpriced mind!
  5. Nice one Dave. Bachmann are currently doing the sealink coaches in their collectors club, a brake and an open I think. £75 for the pair!
  6. Rivet punch, a good eye, steady hands and a good eye.
  7. The blue looks stunning on the E03, that's an utter beaut.
  8. It's scary when you forget what you have. Very nice Dave!
  9. There are two 73 rebuilt projects on the go at the moment, the MTU engined one is for GBRf and they'll use some of them for the sleeper contract in Scotland. The multi-engined apporach has been undertaken by RVEL for Notwork Fail errrr... I mean Network Rail! http://paulbigland.zenfolio.com/p119809187
  10. There are some in America called Gen sets. There is a BR class 73 being converted into one too. 57s were indeed converted from 47s, nearly 20 years ago now by a specialist builder (Brush traction)
  11. GE bypassed EMD in the early 80s when it came to US loco sales with a combination of great deals and the then new SD50 being appalling. However it's interesting that there's not one of the pre Dash 8 era GE locos left running on class 1 railroads while EMD locos of similar and earlier vintage are still running in their thousands. There is also the new emissions regulations which came into force in January. Not many engines out there are now suitable for locomotives. It'll be interesting to see what IE comes up with turning a relatively simple EMD 2 stroke loco into a complex multi engined rebuild that will have to jump through heaps of red tape. The world has changed since the A Class rebuild, does inchicore still even possess the required skills for such a massive project? Be surprised if it happened myself.
  12. I wonder what work the additional locos will be doing considering there's no work for them at the moment?
  13. Hawkins Street still have them, including in their front window. They're still out there for anyone who is after them.
  14. One of the Mark IIIs has been pictured in Scotland being refurbed and painted in a dark blue...
  15. I read elsewhere that Belmond dont want the colour getting out yet, so it's been painted in this interim livery for testing etc and will then go back in for its final livery closer to the launch date.
  16. Can we leave that to Facebook and not go into it here please? Thank you.
  17. C Rail intermodal. They're very nice.
  18. Lovely locos Eamonn, thanks for sharing!
  19. A few from today from me, including 087 on the liner. More on my flickr, enjoy! 087 Ballina Dublin Liner 2 by franburke, on Flickr
  20. Cheers Noel, cant wait to see her out again. Be interesting to see the final touches.
  21. Well it's certainly emerald green! Nice one Noel, is it just plain green on the sides or is there a design to it?
  22. They can be slow to approve. Try 'Irish Trains Past and Present' too. They have some knowledgeable souls on there too.
