  1. Amazing that no 4mm Fodens of that era kicking about considering their popularity in the UK. Always had a soft spot for them myself. Now if someone would do a Hino, an essential vehicle for an Irish layout late 70s onwards!
  2. Maybe check out some American detail crows like Cannon and Co. Might be able to adapt something. I know they do replacement fan grills and chickenwire grills for early SDs. Worth a look although HO of course. Other option is email Paddy Murphy and blag them as spares?
  3. Yeah have one somewhere. Think I had a red one and a yellow diesel too. I was a big matchbox fan as a lad.
  4. You could use the new Hornby or forthcoming bachmann air con coaches as respray donors. Not 100% accurate but cheaper. Alternatively maybe one of the respray gang will do you a deal on a bulk order of that size.
  5. Next time I meet you I'll do my best to explain banter too. Hopefully you'll have put down the wooden spoon by then. Now back on topic please and no more touting for business please.
  6. Nope, it was meant with sincerity. I was only trying to help.
  7. Thanks Noel, not bad for a point and squirt. Must try my Nikon out on them when I get the time.
  8. I wish to god I could speak gobbledygook to understand what the hell you're trying to say. You want to see the model of 071 next to it? Sure, here you go. Get the scissors out and cut your screen in half to compare the two. Looks a different shade to me though... Murphy Models 071 no 071 by franburke, on Flickr
  9. Too right man, I'd be gutted if they're wrong too but I think the pics so far wont do them justice. The ones on the MM website for instance look really washed out due to the brightness of the lighting used by the photographer. I'm too young to really remember Supertrain shades but I'm guessing you're correct in that it should match those locos. I'm sure someone with better knowledge than me can confirm. I'm looking forward to seeing them in the plastic myself.
  10. I would suggest people go and look at them in the plastic in the shops before they make their mind up. It's a funny colour when it comes to photographs where it can be washed out or too bright etc. The same goes for pics of the real thing, not to mention the 40 shades of orange attitude Inchicore employed on the real thing.
  11. Both are. When the 071s were delivered EMD got the paint shade specified by CIE wrong and painted them a weird brown. This is the shade that 088 is in.
  12. 1:76 scale is OO scale. 4mm = 1ft if that helps.
  13. Too job nelson, looks great in that livery! Whose transfers did you use for the lining and how did you find them? Tricky or handy?
  14. Murphys Mark II aicons were completely his own tooling. EGVs probably sold more as people would've wanted them for their lima rakes.
  15. Condolences to you and your family JHB. We have lost a cornerstone Irish Railway heritage. A true expert.
  16. I've done nothing to mine yet but it just seems to be the genny that was affected. My standards were fine. A bit of plaskitcard may brace it out. Hopefully!
  17. What part of leave it do you lot not understand? Thread locked, well done folks. Any more guff and stoking of flames and the ban hammer comes out.
  18. It was mentioned on the previous edition of the site when they first came out.
  19. Let's calm down gents. Silver Fox make some people happy and others dont like it and roll their own. Whatever makes you happy go for it. Let's leave it there and keep it on topic.
  20. Belmond luxury train doors are brown where the bodysides are cream. The doors need to contrast a different colour from what's around the windows.
  21. All passenger doors on rolling stock have to be a different colour thanks to an EU directive I believe to help the partially sighted. Same in the UK anyway.
  22. Exactly.
  23. I run European and American HO with no problems. All work here just fine.
  24. Some more pics on the site http://www.murphymodels.com/MarkIID.html
  25. Balls, they do look good. Must resist....
