  1. And now duly ordered. At least I have over a year to save up but in fairness for the quality of the product it's a good price.

This small class of locomotives were originally ordered and used for Tito's Blue Train in Yugoslavia. From Wikipedia
  3. Were European outline models made in Shannon too? Any idea if their Class 40s and/or their Mark IIIs where made there too?
  4. How much were the sets at the time Dave? Were they cheaper than the Hornby and Lima sets of the day?
  5. I wouldnt be surprised if the prototype HST would be the next model Rapido do with Locomotion considering that the surviving power car has recently been re-engined. Knowing Rapido they would want to do the full prototype train with correct Mark IIIs. I might be wrong but I believe the prototype Mark III rake had a slightly different profile to production Mark IIIs.
  6. Well there's at least one that'll be crossing the Irish Sea and I'm sure I wont be alone either!
  7. Canadian firm Rapido Trains are doing a OO model of the APT-E experimental tilting train. Be still my beating heart! http://rapidotrains.com/apt1.html
  8. Absolutely, there's a couple of magazines dedicated to the subject too, mainly American and a British outline one too but would be worth looking at for ideas and inspiration. Lots of good advice here, would love some O gauge garden action myself. I know Wrenneire has a bit of O Gauge in his back garden too.
  9. I'd say if the Grey 071s were about before the models came out it might have been different. For the 121s I'd say it would be a modular design like the baby GMs, a couple of different sills (one to accommodate the handrail stanchions, one for the early versions without them) a couple of different cab mouldings to cater for lights, blanked out windows etc.)
  10. A picture of 124 with the short lived green arrow livery variation of its IR orange went up on the Facebook group 'Irish Railways Past and Present' a couple of days ago. Think you have to be a member to view via the link but I might be wrong! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1517568668466784&set=gm.344179315735433&type=1&theater
  11. I was told by a prominent member of the MRSI that there was. It's easy to see how false information can spread.
  12. I'll piss my pants with glee if Sanchez turns up at Anfield. Juve are faves for his signature apparently.
  13. There is a prominent member of DLR Council who is also a member of the MRSI I believe, hence the expos in Dun Laoghaire in recent times. Could be a good lead?
  14. Looks like an accurate model of the Mark III Cu Na Mara stock has become a lot easier thanks to Southern Pride's new announcement. Designed to fit on Jouef Mark IIIs. Thought it might be of interest to some http://www.southernpridemodels.co.uk/ (go to 'British Rail Mk 3' on the left hand side, then click on ' Mk 3 Conversion Kits'
  15. Don't make me drool! Plenty of coaches and wagons to do.
  16. I think the problem with this would be 'what if the company go bust in the meantime?' and if the answer is no then it could be messy to send all the money back to those who ponied up. And personally I wouldn't part with cash until I've seen at least a test model in case there's a major accuracy blunder. An alternative is do as smaller companies in the US and Canada do like Rapido Trains. Set a deadline and say that if the company receives x amount of preorders in that time then the project will go ahead, if not hard luck! As far as I know they don't take deposits but maybe this would be an option.
  17. Have you a credible source for this? It seems to fly against recent consensus.
  18. Chile v Spain is going to be massive now. Another great game to look forward to.
  19. Love the sound chip in the A Class Still, nice to see. Really like the look of the A Class, any chance of a nice pic of it Ed and Dave?
  20. I'd be game Myles.
  21. I actually wonder if Brazil will wilt under the pressure due to hosting it. Expectation must be huge. I honestly don't know who will win it, it's wide open. I wonder about the Italians myself for some reason especially Mario can keep the head. I think Spain are past their best to be honest, a wonderful team but I think age and that long period at the top has caught up with them. Would love to see Argentina do it. Unfortunately I don't see England getting out of the group, they'll not handle the heat well and they're poor at the back and no amount of Henderson running in those conditions will make up for Gerrard's lack of legs these days. I've been like a lost soul since the season finished, thank God the World Cup is here!
  22. There was also the new liveries coming out on the real 201s at the time and the fact people were paying mad money for Lina ones 2nd hand. 201s were in very large demand at the time. Anyway, if anyone knows the market it's Paddy Murphy. I'm sure 121s will eventually come but it won't be for a good while yet. Nothing can be done about it unless someone has a spare couple hundred grand lying around.
  23. Still on the look out for one more Proto 2000 SD7 or SD9 body. If anyone has a Proto 2000 or Kato SD45 body knocking around too I'd be interested. Cheers!
