When I did the Waterford greenway, I asked the folks in one of the bike rental shops if he cycles the greenway. He cycles often from Dungarvan to Waterford but still never uses the greenway turns out some of the Pro’s won’t use the greenway as it isn't seen as the same as cycling the road. It is the view of some cycles that greenways are a recreational space hence they need to constantly overtake slow recreational cyclists (how ironic is that!) particularly….if time can be saved by using the roads In my part of the world, this is a bit worrying as the road to kinsale is often a cyclist magnet and proposed greenway is not as direct as the road. There would be 3kms of a difference. It would make some difference but obviously the hardcore guys mightn’t use it….

Unfortunately not an original signal no… The history of West Cork Railway Heritage Railways 1962:An operation going from Togher (outside Cork city) to Waterfall, the first stop on the line. Another plan the same year for railway museum at Rocksavage didn’t pass 1965: an attempt was made to buy Waterfall station but failed. Station is demolished afterwards 1984: Cork railway restoration society is formed. Attempted to build on land which they owned but a water main caused problems. Funding for this project witch initially seemed likely was rejected 1986: West Cork Heritage launches the Courtmacsherry-timoleague tramway idea. It was a praiseworthy project but it never got the £250,000 it needed to succeed. 1990: CRRS attempt to buy Farrangalway station but are outbid. 1991: CRRS attempt to lease Albert quay shed but are rejected in there proposal. Also proposed to celebrate the centenary of the T&C line. A short stretch of track was to be temporarily Laid with number 90 going up and down it. While Irish Rail and the ESB were happy to help. There was an issue securing number 90 from Westrail at the time. 1994: the Park royals land in Clonakilty and the Ruston locomotive also ends up there at some stage. Also imporant to not that Halfway vintage club is also set up at some time during this history. While not build on West Cork Trackbed, it is in the shadow of it. It was just a short line that went up and down a short stretch. And I think all the stock belonged to the famous GSRPS. Since 2018/2019 the trackbed had been removed and the rolling stock has gone. The Ruston locomotive and the Bulleid wagon have turned up in Inchicore on open day. Hopefully off to Maam cross once restored. As for the GSR coach and 30 tonne brakevan. They could be scrapped or hidden from the public. I’m not sure on that detail either

I wonder for those who want green ones, what would be the best green to use if somone purchased white ones but want them to be uniform with the green ones ye guys make? Asking for a freind since I’ve already been asked to swap for my green ones, so I assume a demand is there. -
I’m not a lecturer in the subject. But at some stage in the 1980s there were plans to build a heritage railway between Courtmacsherry and Timoleague. It made sense as even today, the trackbed between the two villages and Courtmacsherry station is very much in tact…. There is even preserved suitible motor power to run it! I remember it had very serious investment but was blocked planning permission or something like that. It would have had a level crossing and of course…there is the near constant pedestrian level crossing at courtmacsherry that possibly would have been H&S issue. Not to mention the line is unprotected from the road …..a bit like Wexford but longer. if such a thing came to pass…it would be the slowest commute ever! With the H&S all over it. It would however be one of the largest tourism draws in that region. It would probobly suffer from a lack of space at timoleague! I’ll fetch my book and read up on it with some more info.

Is there plenty of the white pallets still in stock? I might change the colour of mine when they arrive if that kind of surgery is easy enough to carry out. -
I recodnise a few of those coaches! All they need is decent roof

Finnally got the paint to finish off that LMS stanier coach I got ages ago overall it looks the buisness. If I were to go back I might have purchased a few more of these. The paint malfunctioned and the transfers would not apply properly. Now I have to find a new source for CIE green coaches. this side really shows the craic I was dealing with between the transfers and the paint this side looks better overall it fits in with what I currently have. I have built up such a rake of these coaches that I’ve no idea how they’ll look next to the IRM CIE Green whenever I get a chance to compare the two

The station staff at Clonakilty Junction were very proud of there station and hence kept it clean. Ray good was a member of the staff and is still kicking today in the IRRS cork branch. He opened a railway wall at the site of the old junction about 2 weeks ago. Some of the other stations had bits and peices flung around, or had been overly done up to inflate the cost of running the railway

You can get an order off mark dunlea on Facebook. If you want I can get his email off him. Then you need to source the older type Hornby terrier chassis, and then find how to go about painting it

I asked for them GSWR coaches but somone asked before me! It’s early days in that MGWR project. It will be interesting none the less meanwhile on the viaduct front, work is ongoing as the 1st draft of certain peices are produced. Final height will be 330mm and length of over 2500mm. (Currently it’s sellotaped together)

For CBSCR fans. The market is thriving in terms of the good old 3D printer. between Mark Dunlea’s Number 90, and his current development of the Bandon tank I am to get the GSR plates removed post print….but now I’m sorely tempted on how clean they are!!! Also in the pipeline is not one, But 2 Bandon tank projects working simultaneously. Mark Dunlea’s one is from a scan of one somone built (hmmmm now I wonder who’s that could be). Another more ambitious project is being done by another colegue…aim is for a fully RTR bandon tank for sale per order similar to silver-fox models way of doing things….but fully scratchbuilt anyway here is marks one as it stands…. this photo does not do a great job of showing the detail as he put a wierd 3D filter on the photo. However I’ve seen an early draft at fort Camden model show. It’s coming along slowly but surely Next we have Owen o Neill. Who’s recent work include mallow signalbox, dungarvan signal box, Waterford signalbox, every building at palace east, chapel and macmine junction station! And the short container flats. Also MGWR coaches are on the way (good news for you @jhb171achill!) however for my relevance…..no points for guessing what he is making here based on this photo….

Thank you @murphaph for first dibs on that very expensive locomotive for sale, from somone who’s only income is lunch money and the odd tenner from the grandparents (I know I’m in the wrong hobby!) I really apericiate the gesture of seeing my post and jumping on it!. Thanks to @DJ Dangerous for not only offering to hold my baby 141 for me, but also giving me tips on how to get around “his turf”! While I’m here. I’m leaving tenerife tommorow with my lads… thanks to @leslie10646 and @jhb171achill for helping me get a small custom-made locomotive across the water. Hopefully on my return from holiday it will have returned from its minor overhaul There is countless others I could thank on this tightly knit community. I joined about 2 years ago looking for advice on a layout I haven’t even started now 2 years on. But now it’s amongst my most used apps alongside Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube….NO easy feat for a teenagers smartphone!
