  3. Good man Eamonn, she sounds really good many thanks for sharing:tumbsup:
  4. Glounthaune station please, kills two birds with one stone (cabin and main building combined), for something unusual the new Kilkenny station would be nice. Id settle for some ex cbsc buildings though, come too think of it most Church of Ireland churches are of similar design so that could be an idea.
  5. Im sure its a member on here selling it along with the 146. Hope he gets a good bit more than the starting price.
  6. Swmbo and I got caught up in this twice once we were to be bussed to the Shannon but ended up flying to Shannon on a 146 and then changing planes in Shannon to go off on our sun holiday:cool:. The second time it happened we were left waiting in Crete for 48 hrs as the plane was unable to get out of Cork due to bad weather but we didn t mind as we got an extra day and a half sitting on the beach although our bosses were not to pleased(not that we cared!!!). Plus spotted a steam loco in Crete when down by the port in Heraklion admitally a plinted one. Cork used to be closed quite often due to fog mainly but occasional bad storms caused it to close to, i can remember the air show in 1985 been cancelled due to closure of the airport. I think they should have built it in Kileagh next to the Cork-Youghal line were they were supposed to build it in the first place and not a windswept, fogbound hill were the present one is.

  8. :drool:That sure is a class layout, take a bow sir.
  9. Rails were been taken before the line was cleared, I walked the line from start to finish and I ve only spotted two lengths missing, the signs that were on the line up to recently are disappearing though
  10. Welcome Finbarr:tumbsup:, used to walk the line quite a lot back in the early 00's when i lived in the area. Theres a few books you should get to help you on our way; The Irish Narrow Gauge, A Pictorial History, Volume One, has a full chapter on the Blackrock line plus has pictures of the locos after they moved onto the other narrow guage lines after the blackrock line closed. The Cork, Blackrock & Passage Railway by Colm Creedon was available in Cork City library up to a few years ago, i doubt you ll pick up a copy anywhere else, The Cork, Blackrock & Passage Railway by Stanley C. Jenkins(oakwood press) would be another good one to get. Best of luck with your adventure
  11. Nice one for posting love the shots of Inchicore especially 1000.
  12. Many thanks John, really like the ex CBSC notes. Keep up the good work
  13. Seamus how much for the credit card no 071 in the new livery?
  14. jaysus thats bad:dig:
  15. Tom, they were removing the gen's out of the gennys id say, of course they left the roof off to increase the speed of the rotting.....,
  16. Apparently, there was a group who were serious about a preserved line in the area and looked at both the Ballinacourty and Ross lines, i know they had discussions with some of the residents in the stations, i always thought that this led to the Suir Valley line. There was also plans for a transport museum in New Ross on the Waterford side, if anybody remembers the Dc 7 in Waterford airport this was supposed to be part of it, along with the Drumbrody and some rail artifacts etc, there was talk of an A class doing runs to and from Waterford and up as far as the Red bridge as part of the museum. Going even further back the Tramore line came close to have been saved by no less than two groups 1 waterford city/county offered cie the amount the line lost and the 2nd was an English lot but cie refused both on the grounds that theyd be operating a bus service between the city and the town. As for a book on the Waterford lines, id buy it, and i d say it would be popular down here. Don t know of anybody off hand who would write it though?
  17. We still have the timber and the container!!!! Really enjoyed the video thanks for sharing
  18. yes please Can t wait to see one of these in the flesh, many thanks to "The wanderer special agents" for getting the pics.
  19. No prob lads:tumbsup:, I ve heard locally it cost €60K to clear the line and to get to this point, if i hear any more details i ll post it up here. Some of the bridges would need a bit of work but the alignment seems to be in good nick otherwise. Even though id be sorry to see the line been lifted (some of my now deceased relatives were drivers on the line), at least with either a narrow guage or a walkway its future is someway secure unlike the in limbo status its had since the line closed. If only my euromillions no's would come up:praying:
  20. Hi, Went for a short walk yesterday:) http://www.flickr.com/photos/73238117@N02/sets
  21. I m not disputing the detail that can be achieved by brass, what im saying is resin kits are easier to construct and therefore would lead to better sales to a wider market. I know my own limitations and a brass kit is outside my boundaries, while i look at my mk3 egv with reverence, i wouldn t dream of posting pics of her up on the net. Rtr is not an option for me(believe me i do drool at the 2600 & dedetrich) due to price and i imagine that would be the same for quite a few members on here.
  22. Not everybody can build in brass. Me and brass have a love/hate relationship following building an mir egv, agreed brass does have better detailed finishes but not everybody can build brass kits especially steam locos. At the moment id have a cbscr tank and a j26 in a flash if they were resin kits
  23. Many thanks for sharing Eamonn its good to see that he used the other closed railways of the south east to show what will happen if the line continues to see little or no use.
  24. Wouldn t be a bad idea, where do i sign up? Jaysus (just a thought) we'd all end up with collections like Wrenn if we ever won, anybody selling on ebay would make a killing on any irish model they put up on there. Were do i sign up
