I think John was referring to another Class of locomotive not the J10 or J11, "The Mainline J72 was the nearest thing to an "Official" RTR conversion for the small Midland E Class 0-6-0 tanks or CIE J26 Class." I have two Hornby 3F's a new and an old model, both have a 16' wheelbase unless I'm not measuring it correctly, is it from wheel centre to wheel centre? Sorry Eoin for going off your subject.
-
Eoin, are you aware, New Irish Lines gave away, with their magazine, drawings from the GSR Register. Both J10, J11 and J26 (mentioned by John)are included? The wheel base on a J10 is shown as 14' 11" and I think the Jinty's wheel base is 16' so close enough.

And you even took them out of their boxes... is a change coming in your mature years?

Eoin, it's bad enough undoing your own mistakes (if you ever make any) but it's a bind undoing those made by others. But knowing your work this will simply be another challenge you will brush aside.

While it may not be for everyone some dental tools are a handy addition to any modellers tool box and they have the benefit of being reasonable cheap. Here I used one on a Provincial Wagon CIE Skeleton wagon kit which had a considerable amount of flashing to remove. Just as I'm posting this I'm thinking Broithe is bound to make comment on it, here goes.

Should look the part(from a distance anyway) Noel when you get it finished. Is that a Shapeway body?

After a few weeks working the issue of wrong coloured boiler bands disappears under the usual grime on a steam engine. -
There is a couple of pictures on Ernie's Site of Banbridge in 1955, see

Thanks Broithe, always the spreader of Good News..

Well done Thomas for choosing such an interesting railway area to model. Looking forward to seeing this one develop, I take it will be mostly Steam locomotive you will be using.

I don't understand this post, I was not in any way criticising that the fact that you were not there when I called, I said,"I only got a chance of a very early visit yesterday morning" I did not expect this type of comment from a Moderator of the Site.

Only got a chance of a very early visit yesterday morning and picked up my storage boxes from Dave who is looking good after his Hospital visit. These are a great job, I've managed to get all my BUT and AEC Railcars into one box. It was to early for the IRM boys but I picked up this model for £3 It's a Keyser Model kits, L12 4mm scale of a Midland Railway Kirtley 0-6-0 locomotive with what I'm hopping is a Anchorbridge D10 motor with 40:1 gear box and worm wheel but I have not dismantled it yet. Does it look similar to any locomotive than ran on Irish Rails? Looking forward to visiting the Show proper this afternoon.

The scene and the back story, excellent.

Thanks for the comments Guys. As for the airbrush experience, I meant to include the preparation time and well as the after-cleaning. 2 minutes to stir the paint and then mix with thinners, 5 sec blast and then the cleaning. But I know it's the right way to do it.

John I used Halfords Red Primer and before the second coat dried it got a spray of Halfords grey primer from a good distance to take the edge off it. The roofs were done in same Grey primer and then a light spray of Railmatch roof dirt. I used the Railmatch on the floors of the Flats and used a cotton bud to wipe most of it off before it dried. All easy options rather than use the airbrush, I hate the whole cleaning process, 5 sec spray to 5 mins cleaning.

I know what you mean about the Kit, you have to cut it for a C Class. Looking forward to seeing your chassis Noel.
