    Class A

Now that's an interesting picture, a plasticard A Class!
  2. A short video showing my newly completed CAF 4000. Also CAF 3000 and the Enterprise makes an appearance. Used a bit of modellers licence and ran the two CAF sets together as a 6 car set.
  3. Finished my CAF 4000. The most work was on the roof doing the ribs and vents otherwise lots of masking and re-masking to get close to the NIR livery. I'll stick up a video in the Layout Section (Kirley Junction) so you can see it in action.

  5. Yes please, more pictures. Good luck on your build.
  6. What a fantastic detailed reply BSGSV. Thank you for taking the time and research (unless you can carry such detail in your head). I shall copy your reply and put it into table form for my easy reference. One question, did Mr Kennedy refer to the logo's used, one or two 'flying snails' on the sides of coaches?
  7. Is from the Dylan's Road Movie where he and The Band travelled from Dublin to Belfast? Sorry only checked your link now. I think they all got drunk on the way up. No idea where the still was off.
  8. Its the early period of CIE covering the inherited stock, the ones CIE built like Bredin's & Laminates. Information on Park Royals, Craven's onwards is more easily accessible.
  9. A gap in the market then for an author who is looking for a challenge!
  10. Thanks Guys but my question is, Are there other books on Irish carriages?
  11. JM Designs -Kits to build: Buffet Cars 2405-2418 & Corridor Standards 1339-55, 1356-71. Trying to research these carriages and their liveries has proved difficult as I have been unable to find any published material other than Desmond Coakham "Irish Broad Gauge Carriages". While it contains many photographs they are all in black and white and its contents is done in a narrative style. Doyle & Hirst present their information in a more researchable style but their quality of photographs (B & W) are poor. In their 1st edition 1979 they include 2405-18 and 1356-71 all built from 1953 but obviously showing the current liveries in 1978. Are there other books on Irish carriages? I would love one that gives the designer, builder, coach numbers, different liveries and when they were introduced/changed and of course colour photographs.
  12. Thanks for all the suggestions, so pre 1955 the dark green similar to the Bachmann CIE coaches and post 1955 a lighter green?
  13. Then something to look forward to!
  14. Castle Class hand over from NIR to Downpatrick
  15. That's a fairly compressive layout plan, are your planning any particular era, I'm assuming it will be Irish?
  16. Working on the interior of the coaches. I had to cut and place the compartments to fit the coaches, build toilets and partitions. The Buffet Car interior was built from plasticard and seating from old stock. John kindly provided an interior plan or else I would have been lost. Then I painted the interiors with some non descript colours while the Etch Primer on the coaches was drying. How WHICH shade of the 40 green's should I use???
  17. I have loads of detailed pictures of E421 if they are any use to you.
  18. Have a look at http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/159-Kadee-coupler-advice/page2?highlight=Kadee+couplings http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/2268-kadee-s-and-Hornby-couplers?highlight=Kadee+couplings I remember Flying Scotsman did a detailed method of how to do it way, way back but I don't think the pictures are there anymore.
  19. Well done on your quick build Noel, how does it run on your layout? Really impressed with the design of this model, some parts have been very ingeniously thought out.
  20. What a sight to see!!
  21. Just started my 42' Flats and found Richie's Guide very easy to follow, thought you need to keep an eye on the SSM instructions as well, (Richie does not cut out the sections on the spine to allow the waggon to run on a layout). Looking forward to seeing the rest of the instructions please Richie and thanks again for making the assemble so easy to follow.
  22. Thanks for the info John, a first for Dart Castings in the Irish Market.
  23. Great shots Richie, you must have some 'library'. I take it these are specially constructed cradles that sit on top of the wagon? I like the 4 wheeled version.
  24. Still coach building. I decided to add door and grab handles but I needed to use the magnifying glass with light to see what I'm doing, my eyesight has got very poor. I'm wondering if I can't really see these bits why am I doing this? In for a penny in for a pound, some spring buffers for the coaches, the springs are really tiny.
