  1. On the lower single track section I added another storage area. (Can you ever have enough?) I’ve used one of Glenderg’s bridge surround to hide to storage section. Still to ballast and do the scenics in this area. I’ve done a roadway to the small loading bay on the opposite side of the track.
  2. I got another forest in a box (Seafoam plants) from International Models. http://www.internationalmodels.net/acatalog/Seamoss.html It’s tedious but worthwhile to trim the Seafoam into your required shape. I then dip the trunks into modelling paste and place them into some flower arranging oases. The excess paste falls to the bottom of the trunk giving a lifelike base. The trees have to be dipped in scenic foliage and allow to dry before they can be placed on the layout.
  3. Welcome on board Patrick, I remember your layout from the Cultra Show a while ago. Have not seen it at Downpatrick yet but it's on the plans to view.
  4. Hi Colm, the person you want to contact is Anthony (on this site). I remembering you passing comment on these coaches at the Show.
  5. Well done with the lights, it makes it so realistic looking.
  6. I have Dave, but they were on my PC which crashed. Still hoping to retrieve them.
  7. I extended the wagons to mirror the IE wagons to take 45’ containers. I used SSM detailing kit and transfers which I felt made a big difference to these wagons. Not an easy modification to do and was glad to finish them. I used rail to add strength when I extended the wagons. I have two more wagons to do (if I ever get round to it) and would look to other ways of strengthen them rather than the rails.
  8. Finally got the transfers applied and a bit of weathering to finish off. There is something about these Wagons that I really like, I can’t put my finger on it but they just look the part (to my mind anyway).
  9. Looking forward to seeing this great layout again.
  10. From the looks of things you've got the hang of it already, well done.
  11. Great detailed pictures and taken in ‘sunshine’!
  12. It’s great to see how the Professionals do it, everything so perfect, well done Dave.
  13. It’s great to see how the Professionals do it, everything so perfect, well done Dave.
  14. Noel, love your compositions. Every story tells a picture.
  15. Thanks Dave for tearing yourself away from your layout building to keep this series going.
  16. Tom, I've pulled a rake of 8 Mk 3's up that incline at a gentle speed with no problems.
  17. I got some bridge surrounds/retaining walls from Glenderg via the Wrenneire Courier Services direct to the Bangor Show – what service. Just finished putting it in place. Considering some advertising billboards to break up the long expanse of stone work. Also still to add some trees and shrubs which will soften this area. New tunnel for the lower single line track.

    Feedback

Stephen I had no idea of the costs involved never mind the time you give to keep it running and wish to thank you for your generous gift to Irish Modelling. Just think if we did not have this site what would we do?
  19. I would be happy with kits also.
  20. Building the final 3 should be easy after the knowledge you have already built up. What you have done so far looks the part so a rake of 8 would be great to have a realistic trainload.
  21. Great find Mogul. I did a lot of searching on the Web prior to my attempt at making Spoil Wagons and this is the best footage I have seen. I’m sure Leslie (Provincial Wagons ) would be interested as he is working on Spoil Wagon Kits at the moment.
  22. Great to see you have finally taken the plunge and have tackled the layout at last. Good luck on its development, I’ll be watching out with anticipated interest of what’s to come.
  23. I see Tony Mirolo has had a go at repainting a 071. See at http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/71080-murphys-071-going-grey/#entry1025691
  24. Leslie, I would be interested in Bulleid corrugated wagons (single and double height), Bubbles and flats. The 3 pack is a good suggestion.
