  5. The carcass of the humpbacked bridge, to the left of the station.... Here is the 6mm MDF road with the thickness reduced in places to bend to the bridge... Not great pics of the MDF, but you get the idea.... I hope
  6. Or, a pre weathered supertrain one, mmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Hi Davenport. Some good points from the lads above. I would have a think about down the road a bit. Do you really need all those sidings?, what are they going to be used for, apart from just having lots of track? Are you going to have platforms, and if so where?. And also. think about how much buildings and scenery you want. A little planning will go a long way. I know this from bitter experience. I had to rip up most of my original trackwork to make the layout work. (Shudder) But hey, it's your layout so go with what you want. Last thing, you can't get away with just putting down ballast first like that. No, you have to go through hours of blood, sweat and tears like the rest of us ballasting the tracks
  8. Look what arrived in town. Finally got my hands on some cravens... And little beauties they are too.
  9. Brilliant! Jesus, what goes on in your mind?
  10. Condolences to Dave's family and friends.

    Spray on glue

Thanks, that's because I covered all glued areas with the turf, so glue didn't show afterwards. No, not really Robert. Think I will just leave it now and move on. Bridges to be built. Its solid enough as it is I think

    Spray on glue

In the end I just went with the ol PVA. I dabbed it on with a brush where I wanted the turf, sprinkled on turf ,allowed it to set and then brushed off the excess. And added some foliage etc. too
  13. just about to say that
  14. And the poor bastard pushing it- as per pic
  15. Needed to finish landscaping the area to the left of station, in front of the tunnel, before I moved on. Gonna have a road leaving the town (from the corner of churchyard) , with a bridge over the track, so I had to do landscaping first as access would be difficult afterwards.. Pics explain it better . The area is not really accessible except by rail so I went for a disused, neglected look. Hope it turned out ok. Anyway have a look......... Landscaping..... early days with bridge Position of bridge

  17. Yes Kevin, why not go for something nice and simple for a change ha ha. Fantastic to see that amazing cathedral finished. Excellent work!
  18. Until it didn't Yes I've come across a few of those hammer/saw merchants in my time
  19. Ha ha. All credit to your hand skills so, if that is what you achieved with a skil saw and bench grinder. Lovely smell of smoked teak from the grinder I would say
  20. That's a nate bit of cutting on the teak Denis. What did you cut it with? I can cut curves on a bandsaw and then sand on top of a table sander- makes things nice and handy. Hats off to you

    Spray on glue

Thanks Denis, yeah I know the PVA dries clear but I am putting the turf over a Noch grass mat( different colour) and not covering it completely. The PVA turns the mat a blackish colour , so unless I cover glue completely with turf the discolouration will show. I am really looking for something a bit more versatile., that won't be visible if I don't cover it. I am after a kind of varied, waste ground effect. OK, I realise that sounds as clear as mud but it's the best explanation I have..............
  23. Hi lads, just have a couple of questions on "spray on glue", never having used it before. I have always used PVA for scenic work, but using coarse turf, PVA is not really practical. So, first of all - is Woodland Scenics Cement the only option available? ( I see Marks Models are currently out of the stuff). Does it come in a sprayer or do I need to buy that separately?. Applying coarse turf, do I need to spray layout first or apply turf first? Does overspray disappear completely /does glue dry clear? And finally, would watered down PVA in a spray bottle do the exact same job? Lots of questions I know but I do like to get my ducks in a row before I commence. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Derek
  24. Oh yeah, first thing I noticed. Looking better, the ol runaround was a bit on the short side ok. I look forward to your monthly updates now. Keep up the good work @Metrovik
