You're not. I've yet to receive mine. Their email said to wait until the 20th before getting in touch - it sounded like its a busy week for them .... ... I'd say they must be over at the ploughing trying to figure out how much of a margin Mark's Models are getting on the John Deere and Massey Ferguson models! Edit: The 'ploughing', for those across the water (and maybe the more remote parts of Dublin), is one of the biggest outdoor events in Europe - north of 200,000 people will attend the 'National Ploughing Championships' this week: more here

Swords, Phibsborough and Adelaide

Nice. There's more than a few gems in there ... but the Turfburner caught my eye, and that little GNR building at the end of the bay platform too! -
Got the email too, really looking forward to finally getting my hands on them. I have a LNWR and a LMS set already - lovely little carriages!

It looks very nice on the rails Darius - the prototype was well before I developed an interest in railways, but I have to say its growing on me. I wonder when will we see an IRM model?

A 3d printed 800 class for 00 (and a WLWR goods loco)

Fabulous pics of a fabulous layout!

Personally, I'm more inclined to focus on model railways (and the real world railways they are based on) when I'm on this forum. It's not too much of a stretch to include modelling in general or wider transport topics ... but beyond that, I don't know. Seems to me there's other places one can go to like Boards.ie for conspiracies, politics and what not. When I'm here, I just want to play trains

You Can't Beat A Bit of Bulleid - Open Wagons Next For IRM
Flying Snail replied to Warbonnet's topic in News
I agree with murph's sentiments above and on this thread in general. I would have expected the buffer spacing to have been prototypical, so this is somewhat a surprise for me - but I absolutely get that there are compromises with OO. I'm not going to get worked up about it either way - they're a lovely wagon and I will be ordering more. In the past there have been a number of threads around perceived issues with models that descended into temper tantrums and farce. I think this thread (so far anyhow ) is a very good example of how issues can be discussed respectfully and objectively and lead to a better understanding of the various perspectives for everyone - I know I've found it very informative -
Orange Is The New Black - Iconic Mark 2B and 2C Coaches Announced

Looking very well ... I have to say the box looks great too: it really pops out!! I'll have mine waiting for me when I get home from holidays next week (cue frantic scrambling to get DPD to redirect delivery) -
Interesting - I wonder will more pop up in places like Newry? For model railway items where there's no customs duty, that €3 fee represents a saving of 50c on the customs processing fee charged by An Post. You'll also save another 3% on the ex VAT price of the item as UK VAT is 20% versus Irish VAT at 23%. So there's a saving there - but you'd want to be near Belcoo for it to be worthwhile. However, its also an option for those UK model railway suppliers that can't be bothered filling out a customs form and won't ship to the Republic as a result - DC Kits springs to mind. Edit: and its an option where UK VAT isn't deducted - like the pre-owned stuff from Rails of Sheffield
-
I've a fondness for the LNWR, so if you had said the West Coast Main Line circa 1894 ... But seriously, there's a few members doing a bit of BR modelling on here - @Darius43 springs to mind as someone whose threads you should check out.

I'm really enjoying your threads Gibbo. Inspiring stuff! Welcome to the forum and keep it coming please.

British locos and stock that can be disguised as Irish
Flying Snail replied to Westcorkrailway's topic in Irish Models
'Modelling Irish Railways' by Stephen Johnson and Alan O'Rourke is a great starting point for those interested in modifying British outline models to represent Irish stock. It's from 2004, so a bit dated now but back then there was practically no Irish RTR - the Irish scene was all about scratch building, kits and modifying other models. They give a list of convertible OO locos and an extensive list of carriage conversions too.
