  1. Forcing mainline passengers from services terminating at Connolly and Pearse to then switch to the Dart for one stop before switching again to the metro just seems shoddy. I know its probably cheaper and easier to build, but still ....
  2. Go anywhere, do anything ... .. at least that's what I four-see anyhow
  3. I haven't heard anything back from them since my Feb 21 post.
  4. I don't know what a tracker mortgage is ... .... am I the only one here who is reminded of that Ad when reading this topic? For those too young to remember and/or are not based in Ireland, it's an ad from back in the noughties (when Irish financial watchdogs were too busy making ads to bother regulating the financial industry). It's got a double-decker bus in it though, and there's plenty of bus fans here too
  5. I believe he frequents this site. I have a couple of James' books and follow him on Youtube, I really like his focus on the aesthetic and the sense of place.
  6. Just ordered a few Flying Snail opens myself now (well I had to, didn't I?), and a couple of packs of the flats. Are the flats also finished production or is it just the opens? Also .. at the rate you're going, the new "Project Status' page is going to look empty soon, probably no harm in announcing a few more products to keep the bare look off of it!!
  7. Great article and well done North Down!
  8. Given that it already has (some quite important) items from across Ireland, surely the most cost-effective solution for an "Irish Transport Museum" would be for the Irish Government to part-fund the Ulster Transport Museum under something like the Shared Island Initiative?
  9. Interesting concept - I'm looking forward to seeing this develop. Best of luck with it!
  10. I saw them in Malahide on Sunday for the first time (first time out there too - kudos, @jhb171achill on the work you and your colleagues have put in), and I thought they looked very well indeed. Its a very eye-catching livery, and I'm almost regretting not picking them up when I had the chance - even though my interests lie more along former GSWR territory. You've built up quite the fleet there @Noel!
  11. Success! Alan has reverted to me via the email address provided above with subscription details for New Irish Lines - options include hardcopy via post and pdf versions via email. @Bob49 - I know this will be of interest to you too.
  12. I encountered the same thing on Friday A couple of forum members responded to me with Alan's email and I sent him a note about the newsletter. I haven't heard back yet, but I'll share any info I get.
  13. Thanks Brendan - I've sent Alan an email now.
  14. Does anybody know if the Irish Railway Modelling Circle's newsletter is still available to subscribe to? I tried to visit their website at http://www.newirishlines.org but it seems to be gone offline?
  15. There are a small number of white-toner printers on the market - i.e printers that are designed to print white details with white ink, so if you're in the market for a new printer thats one option. You would want to make sure you can easily get the ink cartridges though. Another option is to see if there are white ink cartridges available for your printer - these would be typically available from 3rd party suppliers. If there are, you can just swap out the black ink cartridge for the white one and print monochrome images and text. That is, you would print out a solid black image/text and because you're using white ink instead of black - the printed image would be white.
  16. Give it about 20 years, you will be Excellent work @Gabhal Luimnigh, it's fabulous!!
  17. Very interesting indeed. Particularly interesting to see the combination of 3D printing and brass on that J17. Thanks for sharing!!
  18. I blame you @BosKonay - if Accurascale hadn't been so proactive and on the ball with the pre-orders for the ranges you took over from Hattons, I wouldn't be getting nervous!!
  19. I expect you're right, and there's plenty of time yet before they're due.
  20. I still can't see any of my CIE Genesis Coaches in the pre-orders section of my Rails account. I was on to Rails' customer chat a couple of weeks back and they said that they hadn't received any details from Hattons yet. I'm beginning to get a little nervous now again and I'll follow-up with them again soon But before I do - I'd like to check if anyone here has received confirmation about their pre-orders?
  21. This is really helpful. It would be great to see more of these guides being produced. Also - Dutch Van. Come on IRM, you know you want to!!!
  22. don't let that stop you .... The Irish Deltic was a classic - looking forward to this April's announcement
