  1. Now, I don't know a lot but I for one quite like all those sidings! looks very Northwall to me (whose never been to Northwall! ) Keep it up, I'm lookin forward to seeing this progress.
  2. really getting somewhere now lad, lookin forward to seeing the place develop!
  3. I for one, would be very interested in this, We should see if bord na mona are willing to fire up an engine for us. ( I realize that's very unlikely.) Should be a good trip if numbers are high enough.
  4. kind of, like real steam engines they seem to have their own moods.......
  5. I was always thinking of something like that, but id say it would require a vast amount of funds.
  6. Strange, he still hasn't gotten back to me..... I told him I would pay him once i received a confirmation email. Perhaps this is why I've received no reply?
  7. I think your right, because when you left I got it working again!
  8. It has to be the Kingsbridge one for me, look at all those early diesels! Hauling a railcar too.... (I'm probably wrong about that....)
  9. How on earth did i do that!? this should work ( I hope....) The real 3MT.mp4
  10. Well here's a surprise, It works! Gave every rusty part a nice bath in vinegar last night, and cleaned the brushes on the motor, which happily was magnetized. This morning I got out the elbow grease and slaved away with the rusty parts and a bucket of water. Then it was just down to assembly, which needless to say was hugely satisfying. Loco was lubricated as I assembled and by some miracle, it worked! Still needs a new buffer and transfers though. Im sorry, they were the only coaches to hand......
  11. You do indeed, Also hidden under a layer of dirt though...
  12. So I recently got gifted a collection of Tri-ang / Hornby stuff, however the condition of it wouldn't be great but rather than see it go to waste I said I'll try and restore it! Now this will probably be a bit of a challenge as there's a good bit of rust on some items but where theres a will, theres a way. There's some nice stuff in here though with a bit of American stuff and even a Hornby Dublo breakdown crane. (Probably not much, but exciting to me!) Today I started on some items that just needed a clean like this nice wagon with opening sides, why dont we have nice features in cheaper models anymore? Then I moved onto this very grubby United dairies tanker What a difference a bit of tlc does eh? Nice bit of American influence, this is the dummy car but did clean up very nicely... This is one of the worse condition pieces, an old 3mt complete with smoke unit! See Hornby, you already did it 60 years ago! This needed a complete strip down, and is going to take alot of work to get going again. You wouldn't believe the filth inside.... I'm going to try and get the rust off the metal, and hopefully something salvageable will emerge, any tips? Anyway that's enough of these toys today (let's be honest, that's what they are!) Yet another distraction, I don't think the world wants me to finish my layout.......

    Ken McElhinney RIP

Had the pleasure of meeting Ken once at Bray, very knowledgeable and friendly man, made stunning models. Rest in peace and may his family get some comfort and support.

  24. With a few packs left for those of us who missed out, I hope?
  25. Sounds like a great idea, only the run round loop is not actually part of the scenic section, well I mean a little bit of it is but the majority of it is not. When things get up and running I will try it though.
