  1. http://www.scalescenes.com produce some low relief printable sheets in their townscenes range. It may have something that suits you. Rich,
  2. I watched it on the news this evening and it looked spectacular, glad the weather was good. Rich,
  3. Definitely Richie, there are some pieces of work that really stand out and grab your attention, and this is one of them. Rich
  4. Good work lad's, Des must feel like a proud Dad. Rich,
  5. Amazing work Phil, architectural modelling is one area I need to improve myself. This has given me serious inspiration, cracking stuff. Rich,
  6. Oh those sleepless nights Stephen. Still worth every second though. The modelling season seems to be kicking in again, keep us up to date. I will be using cobalt's myself, expect plenty of questions. Rich,
  7. I agree Stephen. That sums up the difference between a model railway and a model of a real railway. Huge difference but it looks right. Rich,
  8. Good man Noel, can't wait. Rich,
  9. Lovely models Noel. The last pic really shows how well MM have captured the look and bulk of the 111-071 locos, I also love the barrel on the pallet. The Enterprise models still amaze me every time I see them. Rich,
  10. I have to say that the extras such as pipe work and screw couplings that Heljan provide with their models are cracking. Look's a smashing model Fran their Hymek is still one of the very best models around. Rich,
  11. Maybe use some 2mm thin walled rod Kieran, put some masking tape around the spot to be drilled and it will stop the drill bit from slipping. The same would apply to using the supplied rod. It takes patience, but it is worth it as they are super little kit's. Rich,
  12. That's looking smashing Kieran. Two of Des's signals in front of it on each platform will look sweet. I can't wait to see the station building. Rich,
  13. I think I'd have to look the other way if I was approaching Heuston. The MK3's in Waterford still upset me, they were a seriously good coach. Hopefully some of the loco's may return to the rails. As has been said they are in a reasonably good state on the outside even if some are missing internal parts. Still sad though looking at them. The fact that the 071's are being overhauled speaks volume about their reliability. Rich,
  14. That's an interesting clip of 077 with the Autoballaster wagons. I haven't seen a rake of seven wagons before. Rich,
  15. I'll second that. Nothing like a bit of kit bashing. Rich,
  16. Less then 23 hours since the OP and all that info, take a bow lad's. Welcome to the group Richard that will make an awesome layout with plenty of interest. Rich,
  17. I've been following that thread myself. The DC Kit's models are lovely models when built. Nigel Burkin built a rake years ago and they are smashing. Rich,
  18. I see George 's set painted in green on RMweb and they look nice, Definitely worth a few quid to use them as a scratch building or kit bashing aid. I do think they would benifit hugely from fitting proper trussing and Masokit's MK1 brake gear to the underframe. Rich,
  19. Looking good Tom. Are the bogies clip in like the Cravens. If so get a pair of B5 bogies from Replica Railways they are smashing. I have a few pairs stored away somewhere for future use. Rich,
  20. Agree Fran, I have vague memories of the line myself, well done Patrick. I like the new avatar Fran. Rich,
  21. I often wonder was there a plan to run a railway along the south side of the river from where the Tower Hotel is now, along the river passing Waterpark College, the Rugby club and the ferry for Waterford Castle. Would it have run to Passage and onto Dunmore. I must have a chat with the father in law as he is a local and knows every part of the area. Rich,
  22. Jack O'Neill was a lovely man with an encyclopaedia of railway history all stored in his mind, which is in my opinion the best kind. He was able to tell me about relatives I didn't know I had, who had worked on the railway. I often wonder if the road bridge at Jack Meades pub was ever intended for railway use, wish I'd asked him now. Did you finish the book Tom. Rich,
  23. I agree 100% David it is fantastic. Martyn demystifies the whole process in such a genial way. I love the piece where he occidentally discovers how to get that silvery hue when producing a weathered timber look. Liverbird if you are after a video the right track series of dvd's with Tim Shackleton are worth investing in. Both guys tend to mix their own colour's and don't use off the shelf weathering colour's which gives their work a more personal look. Rich,
  24. Maybe if it the blue was changed to green like the road trucks, it might be a bit more eye catching. Rich,
  25. It's a great read Tom. Wouldn't the Station building in Tramore make a great club house for a model railway society, with lot's of work involved of course. Rich,
