Fresh to the bench this morning is my 15 Ballast Wagons and 2 Plough Van's. I've started by applying a wash to the hopper. This is to create the build up of dirt and streaking in certain areas. This process will be used on each wagon. I have also removed the loads for a little cosmetic work.

Love the shot at 4:25 as the 141 passes over the bridge with bubbles. One word...class.

Even though the livery carried by A12 is way outside my era of interest, I've always found it attractive because it's so simple. Even to this day, that style is still being used on the 071/111 classes. It never grows old.

Absolutely stunning gents. As each wagon was released, it seemed to push the bar that little bit higher each time. Yes, its probably expected now, and comes as no surprise. But to serve up this type of standard on your first locomotive is outstanding. Respect.

Nice work Noel. The combination of their colour and how badly they weathered over time means they are not easy to get right, but you've pulled it off. I have a few of these spare from my 42' flats, and tackled one over the Christmas break. After a lot of expletives it ended up back in a box. I'm planning on revisiting it, when I have time and patience in equal measure.

Yes gm, they're from SSM. A quick blast of a rattle can, pop the filter in, and they're ready to go.

One final pic which I missed at the beginning. This shows some detailing added to the rear of what is the last wagon in the rake.

Cheers popeye. It's a combination of removing the paint and the powders after applying.Then airbrushing another colour on to build up the layers, and repeating the process. Its quite time consuming. I'm glad to see the back of them to be honest. This shot probably explains it better.

According to Mark's Models June newsletter, which I recieved today. They are planning to reopen both Dublin stores on Monday the 8th of June, and Cork on the 9th.

I notice they're fairly close to Fitzgerald's. It was always handy back in the day, when you could nip across to the atm when indulging in the local watering hole.

Love the 2800 Noel, it was a favourite of mine growing up. Nice paint job. That colour along with the logos really suite the tractor unit. -

Not my era of interest. But the layout itself is just top notch. Nothing over complicated, and a perfect example of less definitely being more.

Nice work on the scenics. You've got my favourite Baby GM there carrying the IR livery, 143 with it's day-glo panels. Along with that, Bells and Bubbles. Perfect.

The bogie bulks look great Noel, a definite favourite of mine. I haven't always been a fan of the 201 class, but I've found myself watching more and more footage of them lately. That combination looks well together.

I wouldn't have much of an interest in British Outline. But I have to admit, there's something about this layout that I really like. I definitely have a soft spot for that Class 20.

Hi Mick, welcome to the site. Unless you're entirely confident in tackling some kit bashing, I'd suggest avoiding it for the time being. Sometimes taking on projects like that can end up costing more in the long run. The ex BR generator van by Silverfox, which Rob has suggested above, is a decent enough model. It can be a little pricey depending on who or where you get it from, so look around before buying. The detail is no way near what you'll get on one of Murphy's Cravens, but it does the job, and looks well behind an 071.

Something from the 90's, great start to the thread Noel. I do like my vehicles, especially when connected in some way to the railways. I'll be following this with interest
