  2. The issue is not 21mm is whether to go p4 that has significant consequences , you could so 21mm EM standard too

  4. to save costs of ultra scale etc , I was wondering if building the track to 21mm with with either EM or 00-SF flange ways would make things easier . I could then use ordinary 00 wheel sets on wider axles ? Dave
  5. you could use any standard you like and modify it for 21mm, for example use DOGA - intermediate flange ways etc this would allow to use the existing 00 gauge wheel profiles but on a longer axle
  6. templot will generate correct 21mm templates for any track formation. , it's free software too

  9. I remember seeing some of that in action in Waterford in the 70s. I remember the caged sundries traffic being delivered round the town. Pity it all failed. Just what will future Irish railway modellers model from the 2005 onwards. I can't imagine , at least you won't need many models

  12. my experience of mk2s was first, restaurant, + standard classes and EGV
  13. it seems to be organised for right line running, i.e. the assuming UP is the top track at the station, this would facilitate trailing point access to the storage, sheds etc , otherwise the loco would be trapped, as it went in facing. ( I suppose it could use the platforms to run around ) Also the branch line needs a connection to the mainlines, in reality it would never be just separated like that , perhaps the halt would be nearer top right to have a visual break with the main station you could consider a connection to the first rolling stock storage siding back onto the running line to create a run round as Noel said it might be better to avoid too many parallel straight track sidings in the station area, it was rarely that way in real life, Some stations had considerable amounts of parallel track but most hadn't looks quite good other wise

  23. Indeed , it has made me stop and think about baseboard construction outside of immediate heavily tracked areas. I think skeleton baseboards offer great ability to undulate the track through the countryside, rarely was anything flat , but the railway was always slightly above or slightly lower then the surrounding countryside , leaving aside cuttings and embankments
