    Well you had some As and Cs in green, some in ( filthy ) silver, steamers in dirty grey(except Meadbh and Macha) or black, or grey with black smokeboxes! You can see why blackntan was introduced in 62! So yeah. It was the crazy period with 20 different liveries, like today...

    Aye, the grey livery, despite being drab and..let's face it, boring, really did suit the old Irish steamers, especially when it went that sort of dusty looking blacky-grey after being cleaned(ocasionally) with a greasy rag. Durty, but lovable. the new grey on the 071s looks really well, gives them a nice subtle clean look. I disliked the black and silver livery and that didn't suit them, and the ones still in it look like they are on their last legs...

    I'm fairly sure all of Des's kits have their chassis supplied,as with most steam kits.

    Thought originally that it was the tight bends on the layout so they were replaced with larger radius track, but the problems persist

    The problem with mine was that the pony truck keeps derailing. Very annoying.

    No, actually they were the more modern Hornby ones.

    When I bought a patriot and a Scot(to convert) I found both had problems with gears not meshing properly, and poor pulling power

    The dark green doesn't look to unlike the CIE dark green on (some) steam locomotives

    Well the coaches are blue...suggesting she something on the loco will be blue.

    Maybe they are doing what they did with the enterprise? Couple of runs first, and then finish the paint job?

    Although it's a nice livery..it will never catch on, and it will weather terribly....
