you could just do a J15 from early years, then one or two types in the GSR era, and the rest in CIE and preservation era, maybe 6-7 variants when brought down to that?

Now we're talking! Well known, unique, and very little variation! And,of course, I would commit to all three!

Nonsense, 461 is a preserved loco, which would make it more commercially viable, it's a sought after loco as well, with many threads on this forum going towards having a model of 461. Obviously the most commercially viable would be a J15, but then your left with the hundreds of different variants, superheated, belpaire firebox, cupboard doors, inchicorised, etc. Even if one is to choose just 184 and 186, it's basically two different models...

461 would be the ideal RTR loco. She is inside cylindered, as Ivan has already pointed out, and is in preservation. A kit will soon be available...

Lough Swilly tender loco may not be so crazy..survives another few years, transferred to the T&D for cattle specials! Maybe? I might hold off getting a U myself, if I was going to get a RTR loco, it would be a J15, 461 or Meabh, or maybe a VS..

Well, early this morning I was testing the loco( with pickups, thank John) when the motor decided to commit suicide. Not even a fart out of it. Doing what I usually do. I tore it apart to find out the problem, until it was just a pile of wire. Ah well, feck I'll just have to annoy Des a bit more and throw some coins in his direction. On the bright side, pickups work, and the body is starting to look like a loco. Since I'm not going to post photos if the mortally wounded motor, I might as well go through the general plan for the next year or two. Finish the J26. Get a Bandon and a J15(It doesn't matter which order) and then maybe a compound, before eventually building a second 800 which is the ultimate goal
