  1. That is a possibility as right up to the closure of the Derry Road a substantial amount of freight went to St Johnston daily except Sunday for Co Donegal

  3. Enjoyed by film clip of the Lough Swilly supplied with photos for episode 4 being used to transport Derry to Waterford for a day. Will wait now for my photos of Greenore Hotel to appear at the "Giants Causeway Steam Railway" sponsored by the local dodgy MP!
  4. Agree 100% on that one. Have seen a similar photo in a history of Derby Works. The Jeeps were also built at Derby and shipped from Heysham in parts as well.
  5. Last BCDR photo looks like No 6 from the 1930s at Ballynahinch. Keep me posted about the CDR as always!
  6. The worst thing about the Giants Causeway Railway is that tin tram contraption that scares passengers away. Introduced by Dodgy Del the owner because it was cheaper that the steam locos that were flogged out in the last few years under the "new management!"
  7. The C and L locos were similar in that way to the last years of the three CDR Class 5 tanks which meant that each if the last e had some minor differences and features compared with their sisters. Parts from Blanhe and Foyle are still to found on the surviving locos today!

  11. In terms of the Narrow Gauge have now collected many photos of both the Lough Swilly and the County Donegal. In terms of the CDR using some unpublished colour photos of wagons and Van's for an article at present
  12. Yes they have a few photos from your collection identified and a few that appear to be from you via a different source!
  13. Supplied some photos and info for both the Swilly and the DNGR. Also oddly enough the first of a 2 part article on the DNGR in current issue of Railway Bylines with the usual minor errors in article/photos They have a 30 minute episode in the can on the Giants Causeway and "steam railway" today!
  14. This often happens in newspaper articles with old photos and incorrect dates etc!

  16. Colin which of the two different versions of the Hudswell Clarke 4-6-2T locos. Either 15/16 or 7/8? My money would be on No 15. The last Swilly loco to be scrapped in 1954. ;

  18. The last of the P Van's were painted NIR maroon but they never appeared to be cleaned so they looked different as John says.
  19. The embankment behind the loco was the original main line used before Bleach Green line opened in 1934
