Good guess then! Have picked up a few nice photos of 27 at York Road in 1965 recently.
Thanks whatever I do they seem to go on a tilt! Nice view of the rear of a Class 5 loco and this was the first to go in 1940. Looks well in black!
According to Journall 11 DNGR Locos 2,3,4 and 6 were moved from Dundalk to Sutton on April 13 1952. As No 1 had went to Adelaide and No 5 was scrapped already then they are all accounted for.
Usually PRONI record all talks and put them on their YouTube channel. Will be speaking to them on Monday so will check and let you and other IRM members know then. My contact in PRONI and we are working on an education project together seen my article in Backtrack and I was conscripted into this talk. Will.mention your comment Robert.
Thanks Ernie for that and obviously love the photo of Columbkille at the home of the Donegal Railway Heritage Centre. Great to see yet more old photos.
To be fair John Castlederg was only a Tramway that was closed by the major railway strike of early 1933
Good article and photos of this Tramway in Narrow Gauge Steam 2 bookazine that is just out.
Correct serous talks held in 1941 in this issue. Two things stopoedcit such as the topography of the line as the GNR route was flat and level unlike the NG line
Secondly by the time it was on the table it was 1942 and the tide in WW2 had started to slowly turn
Indeed David they were so sure that the line to Comber and Ards would be reopened they ordered more MED sets than they needed just for Bangor line services.
Trying to find photos of the 2 Pecketts used at their Carrickfergus factory. Remember seeing photos of them in a Belfast scrap yard last summer on this forum. Thanks in advance
