The lower double track section of the upper scenic level has been extended around the western end of the shed. Ā The curves were spaced to permit the Rapido APT-E and Oxford Railgun to pass on opposite tracks without clashing.*

We have had made a loco running-in/testing station to our own design in laser cut plywood.

Track to lift-out baseboard section over the helix cut. Ā This allowed me to get inside the helix and give the track a good clean.

These wereĀ cheap portals sourced on eBay and made from some flexible pvc/polyethylene material that was impervious to plasticĀ magic, cyano and butanone (MEK). Ā 5 minute epoxy worked though.

I used offcuts from the ā€œremovedā€ wing wall to make the wall joining the two portals. Ā The whole was sprayed with grey primer and then a dilute wash of track colour and black.

Cheers

More ballasting today - the lift-out section above the helix - and some buffer stops.

The buffer stops need a spot of weathering to tone down the ā€œrednessā€ and the track needs to be dirtier.

TheĀ model canopy structure is removable and the fuel pumping equipment and drums are just temporarily placed for the photos. Ā
The whole trackbed and hardstanding Ā area still needs the oily gunk weathered treatment.

MostĀ of this section will be in ā€œtunnelā€ beneath the upper scenic level so the code 75 bullhead track transitions to code 100Ā using Peco transition track pieces. Ā The code 75 bullhead rail connects ok to the ā€œregularā€ Peco code 75 rail of the transition track piece using standard codeĀ 75 rail joiners.

Hi Robert,

As this section is in a tunnel we will be connecting feeds from the shed perimeter bus bar to the outside edges of the rails at regular intervals.

TheĀ polystyrene slabs were packing from some self-assembly steel cabinets that I acquired for the garage a couple of years ago.

The plan is to have rows of terraced houses (Scalescenes) with a slight gradient up to the right-angled corner.

Terrific stuff @Darius43, I feel envious of forum members, like yourself, who have such huge spaces to model and Middlemark is going to be seriously impressive. I also love all the models you churn out at a tremendous pace, especially all the Norn Irish stuff. Can I just ask where you sourced that corrugated metal sheeting for the refuelling point as it looks exactly what I am looking for for my canopy at Larne Harbour Station.

I hope this project was not done under the " self certification" criterion and that all stages of the project were fully checked and certified.Ā
