New ICR intermediary cars

Heard today at Connolly that the new ICR carriages were loaded in South Korea this morning.

There is a photo of one in it's cellophane wrapping in the "Interesting Photo" section. You can see it being manouvered prior to being encased in its foam, and  then its plastic sleeve and then placed in its card board box.

How many are they getting? And what for?

 

(Will the jax, as a revolutionary alteration to the design, have air (ideally fresh), ventilation, dry floors and toilet paper?)

Unsure how many but I believe around 40.

Plan, I was told, is to increase the number of coaches per train and allow some sets to be released onto other routes.

What size will the 22000 formations be after these arrive?

They currently exist only in three and five car formations?

Obviously they can be coupled into sixes, eights and tens, I know.

@DJ Dangerous - I've a feeling that they'll be up to six cars in formation. The first sets on the Dublin-Sligo line operated 3,4, 3+3, 4+3 and now, 4+4. There might be a limitation to the maximum number of cars which can operate in a set.

They'll have to stand back about a hundred yards to read the information leaflet when they unpack the boxes.

Any shots of what's in the accessory pack?

Will IRM have the special 'blue cross' wrapper, when they finally announce them?

I'm not sure, but pretty confident they've got lighting.

There's a magnetically fitted panel somewhere in the jacks that you have to pry off to reveal a 21 pin socket.

6-car fixed formation sets, not 7. The fleet being originally 3 or 6-car sets.

New formations will be a mixture of 3, 4 and 6-car sets, the latter being 10x6 Premier Class and balance being high capacity sets with new centre cars

In terms of the "high capacity" ones, will the seating plan internally be different in any of them?

New B cars will have 68 fixed, 6 tip up seats and no toilets. After that the same general layout ("high capacity" always meant standard class 6 car units)
